wide hips

Hi all,
I'm kinda new here. I have been dieting on and off since the beginning of the year (didn't really focus until April) anyway my weight has dropped from 148 to 138 and I'm obviously really happy with this. However, I don't seem to be seeing any inch loss from my hips. I get measured regularly for my job, and I'm currently 35-27-41 and I'm 5'8.
A 41 inch hip in UK sizes is around a size 14, all of the clothes I own are either a 10 or a 12, and 12s often gape at the back, and a lot of my size 12 clothes are loose around my widest part since I've lost weight. So is it possible that my hips are just wide, and it's the position of my leg that is giving me this measurement? I have friends who look and wear bigger than me, but don't have 41 inch hips

I'll chime in and say it all depends on your bone structure, body type (pear, apple etc...) and body fat percentage. Plus, we lose and hold weight differently. Plus we also lose weight in more places than we get measured too. So it could depend on a whole host of different factors. But yeah, you could have a wide-set pelvis bone. You sound like me though - my hip measurements lag wayyyyyyy behind all my other measurements and my butt measurements and lower back measurements say one dress size and my thigh measurements and waist measurements are another dress size!! I wear a uk size 10, even though apparently my waist measurements are a 12/14????!!!!0

If your wide hips are result of body fat, then weight lift to lose inches.. if it is just bone structure, then learn to love them.0

Thanks for your replies! I guess I better keep lifting weights then
I can feel a huge difference in my clothes, so maybe I was 43 inches before, which would make me over a size 16, which I have never been, stuuupid dress sizes!0
