Learning to stay away from the scale

In March I started adding strength training to my weekly workout. All while I was still trying to lose 5-7 more lbs. instead I gained 7 lbs. at first I was completely down on myself about it. Now I try to only step on scale every 1-2 weeks.
So I gained 7 lbs, but measurements are the same, for most part. Some 1/4-1/2 inch less. Upper thighs went up 1/2 inch. Size of clothes is the same. So my guess is I replaced fat with muscle, yes? But how do I drop a few pounds at this point?

You are still up 7lbs? A lot of that is probably water retention / glycogen, etc. It's really hard for a woman to gain muscle. You might have gained a pound or so due to newbie gains but definitely not 7.
When was the last time you took a "diet break"? 2 weeks eating at TDEE (or MFP maintenance plus exercise calories) While that won't make you lose, it helps balance out hormones and such so that when you get back to the deficit you might see some results.
Or you could drop your base calories 100 or so just to see. There's no reason that you shouldn't be able to keep losing weight while lifting.0 -
I have been up 7 lbs since early April. I've tried so many things. Did a refeed, increased calories. The last two weeks I've done less weight lifting and more cardio just to see.0

I meant to say , I've been getting rid of excess fat and gaining lean muscle
But the stall in weight loss at all puzzles me.
I know the 7 lbs isn't fat gain, not if measurements have stabalized too0 -
I decided that same thing today. To look in the mirror more and the scale less. I took a cross fit class so I know my body will change. The scale isn't moving but I look more toned. By the way you look great!!!0
