Yes you can do it, it is just a little harder for us. I was diagnosed last july when I started my diet. Two months ago they took me off the meds so I know it can be done. Check Diabetic Living. com. (also a magazine) great articles and tips about what we are going through. Lots of good recipes too. Good luck and hang in there
  • Ther are groups here in my fitness pal for diabetics. For type 1 and type 2. Good luck... You will motivation in there

Need to get motivated again! Type 2 diabetic on insulin and was on 1200 calorie diet for six weeks and didnt loose one pound. I also used my treadmill (wasnt exercising before diet). I cant walk fast or long due to back issues, but I walked it. I became so discouraged, I gave up.Any help or advise is appreciated!

A lot of the advice given by doctors is horrible for diabetics and many times worsens the condition (for Type 2s).

Eating low calorie diets that are also laced with carbs galore, sugars, etc. do nothing except keep you on medication and potentially insulin.

Eat more, but make carbs much less a part of you diet. Ditch cardio in favor of interval training with sprints and weight lifting, or just walk each day. All of these things are well known to help increase insulin sensitivity (and therefore regulate blood sugar and weight better).
