Hello,

I'm currently at 250lbs and I'm 5'6. In a nursing program that I love and by losing weight I would feel more comfortable and confident. 3 years ago I joined a campus group fitness and played rugby and that was probably the best feeling point in my life. Then I turned 21 and gained about 50lbs, then about a year ago I tried crossfit and had lots of motivation to get back to my old self and in the process I pushed to hard and hurt my knee. I've gained 30lbs in a year. Did a MRI and they didn't find anything. Physical Therapy is too expensive since I'm not insured. Any suggestions?

Some campuses have cheap healthcare through their campus medical clinic. Some also offer student health insurance. Or u can try to find a clinic w a sliding scale fee. Some places are better to students w their sliding scale then others. I'm sorry to hear about ur knee. I hope u find some care!

Sounds like you need to change your diet. I can't tell what you're eating because your food diary is set to private. Are you drinking water? I bought a 32 oz. sport bottle, fill it with filtered water and lemon slices, and try to drink 2 of those a day. Water curbs my appetite and has 0 calories (the lemon is almost nothing as well).

Can you walk? That shouldn't hurt your knee. Try lifting dumbbells or other exercise that doesn't have high impact on your knees. You can also watch free exercise videos on Youtube -- there are lots of good ones.

You may want to look into water aerobics. You can modify for your knee and it might just help build up the strength in it.
