if you want to be lower carb on account of the PCOS then things to avoid or reduce include :-

bread, cereal, cookies, cake, chips / fries, candy, pizza, pasta, potato, sweets, sugar

How far head are you meaning for planning your meals ??

If you had an open diary people will suggest changes to what you're doing.
  • I have PCOS and the insulin resistance to go along with it. I eat egg whites, canadian bacon and a piece of toast in the morning and if you microwave the egg, it can be done in like 1 1/2 minutes. also, at sams i can buy special K flat bread breakfast sandwiches and they have like 20g carbs in them, so they are good if i am in a hurry as well.
For lunch, I have tuna salad or chicken salad which i buy canned and then portion out in small bowls with lids so i can take them with me to work. I also have rye crackers which are lower in carbs than say, ritz. i eat cucumbers or carrots with lunch as well.
for dinner, i usually do 4-6oz of fish or chicken with 2 vegetables and 1/2 cup of something starchy, like sweet potatoes or black beans. I also just tried rutabegas for the first time. they are a root vegatable that you can cook like potatoes and mash them up and season and they can be a subsittute for a starch. if you cook all this dinner stuff ahead of time, you will have portions that you can plate and wrap with foil and voila.
usually for snacks, i buy almonds and cashews at sams and put them in ziploc bags in 1 ounce servings to take when i need them to go. (also helps not to overeat them) Fruit as well for snacks but avoid pineapple, mango and more tropical fruits that are higher in sugars.

I plan a week in advance, get all my food shopping sorted then cook everything on the sunday.

Anything for later in the week has to be freezeable so i just take it out the night before, and reheat, it seems the easiest things.

If you can tolerant legumes, go for the low GI route

If you cant, go the low carb route. I've to go the latter, so its all fresh veg and meat. You cant really go wrong with that.

Chicken breast with cheddar cheese, wrapped in bacon is one of my favourite 'finger foods' at the moment
Or dump the veg in an oven pan/slow cooker and cook it until chicken is done.
