What Is It With People ?

Usually when I want to add more people I'll reply to posts on here or make my own and mention "hey, peek at my headline befre adding" But the thing is, most people treat MFP like it's MySpace or something. I'm influenced pretty easily by what I see, read etc. So I don't need someone on my friends list going "OH MY GAWD, I HAD LIKE 200 CALORIES TODAY AND I FEEL SO NASTY ! " But people throw their maturity out the window and message me with "I was gonna add you, but your headline turned me off and I'm going to tell you a story you really don't care about but I'm gonna write a long paragraph. I also want you to know you're a horrible person."

This is NOT myspace. This is MFP

Myspace you add anyone and everyone
MFP you add who you want

Ooops, I never did myspace, so I have been applying that mentality here. That may be my problem. And by problem I mean awesome. Seriously I have more "friends" on here than I could ever have imagined. And more than I can handle really. But it's sure fun trying. Oh brb, red thingie says I have (2) more friend requests..........whoo hoooooo!

Excuse my french BUT what in the hello kitty are you talking about? GRRrRrrrril dont you know that MFP stands for Many fu€king problems! Everyone here is starving and pissed off lol ;p
  • THANK YOU.

I'm sick of people making this a popularity contest like facebook as well.

Look, I have 1,000 friends! Um, that's nice - I actually talk with my friends on here on a daily basis. I don't care how many friends you have.

I also have a headline in my bio section that i'm not here to support anorexic eating habits - that's turned a ton of people off. Sorry, but if you're that way you need professional help, not MFP. And I say this because I WAS anorexic, I weighed 96 pounds my senior year and I did think I was fat. So when people on my friends list started eating like 300 calories a day and exercising burning over 500 calories a day, I called them out on their bullcrap, and they complained I didn't understand them. Well, unless you told me upfront, yes I'll call you out on your bullcrap. End friendship right there.

I'm here to be HEALTHY. And not deal with high school bullcrap when I'm 27. You want to get healthy, then we can be friends! You want to complain that you ate too much when all you had all day was an apple, but then you went jogging? Nope. Not dealing with you.

</end my rant lol. Sorry! I feel the same way!>

I'll add the friends that I want to add, and I have my own criteria for judging. What I would never do is plaster anything on my profile that demeans a group of people suffering from painful emotional disorders, or start a thread to complain about them. You don't have to be friends with people who have eating disorders, and you can do it without picking on them.

I'm sorry, but the people telling me these things said their doctor said it was ok. For weeks on end. Or weren't honest about it. Granted I have had eating disorders, I know it's hard, but professional help is needed, not what can be found on this website.

In what way does that justify broadcasting your dislike of people who have eating disorders?

I'm just curious really, by why do you assume that people that eat 1200 calories or less a day have an eating disorder. Has there been some study that I've never heard about proves this theory? Do you really pick your friend based on what they eat every day? What if they eat 1500 calories most of the time and then have a day they're not really hungry and eat 900 calories that day? Do you not talk to them until they bring their calories back up?

    Just wondering

Is it mature to write a post blasting these people? If you don't like it, don't add people. Or delete them. But that's what you get for just adding random people on the internet.

I also believe that people can use this site however they choose. Last time I checked, there wasn't a set of rules dictating how one may or may not use one's profile.

these boards are poorly moderated - there seems to be a rise in the "rate me if u think i'm the hotness* threads, and less helpful ones.
