Smoothies

Does anyone have recipes for delicious smoothies? I think they make great meals or post work-out snacks but always end up making the same couple smoothies.

Let's see what kind of smoothies you guys enjoy!

Every morning I make a smoothie with 12 oz of orange juice, 1 cup of strawberries, either 1 banana or 1 green apple, and a cup of spinach. That easily keeps me satisfied until lunch and is only about 300 calories.

As good as this sounds the orange juice is VERY high in sugar content.

like the mango peach isopure protein powder, mixes well with water and tastes great
  • I do the same one too!

I use protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries) and a half a banana. Sometimes I add peanut butter.

I think I should post my recipe too in case anyone wants it!
    3-4 frozen strawberries
    ~200ml milk
    spoonful of OJ concentrate
    half a banana
    sometimes protein powder
  • One combo I always go back to is:

    strawberries
    blue berries
    raspberries
    spinach
    kale
    green tea

    banana and/or apple optional.

The other day I mixed in strawberries, strawberry soy milk, peanut butter, half a banana and kale.. it was so delicious.

*edit. I also add hemp hearts or flax powder time to time.

    This is my favourite smoothie

1/2 cup frozen raspberries (the raspberries are mandatory)
1/2 cup frozen peaches or cherries
1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries or strawberries
1/2 cup stirred organic yogurt (Sometimes I use almond milk, coconut milk or 1% milk)
    3/4 water
    1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 scoop Kaizen - Natural Whey Protein - Natural Vanilla Bean
Optional (2 tsp Benefiber for extra fiber)

Makes a great breakfast and I get 3 servings of fruit in it. Looks like and tastes like a milkshake.

    Derek has some good ones:

There are some good one's on this website (I've used):

    http://www.thebestofrawfood.com/how-to-make-smoothies.html

    I love this one

    Arugula Lettuce and Pear
    Ingredients
    1 banana
    2-3 pears
    2 tablespoons hulled hemp seed
    1 bag of frozen raspberries
2.5 cups pure water (or fresh squeezed orange juice which takes the bitter from the arugula)
1 teaspoon super foods of choice (I used Maca; but you can find spirulina or other super greens at Earth Fare)
small bunch of arugula lettuce leaves
Liquid stevia to taste (I wouldn't add until you taste it…I added before tasting and it was too sweet)
    Directions
    1. Put all ingredients in a high speed blender.
    2. Add enough water so that all ingredients are covered. Blend well.
Arugula lettuce and pear are an excellent combination. Very delicious and nutritious smoothie. You might try this combo in a salad too.

    MANGO AND SPINACH SMOOTHIE
    Serves 2
Looking and feeling great has to start with leafy greens – it cleanses and rebuilds your
body in miraculous ways. One or two glasses of this a day (this recipe makes 2 pints) is
going to make you look and feel amazing. And the good news is, it tastes truly (you’re
going to have to trust me on this!) delicious.

    INGREDIENTS
1 large sweet and ripe mango (or 2 small ones)
5–6 large handfuls of organic spinach

    DIRECTIONS
1 Chop your peeled mango into pieces and put into a blender
first (it’s important that you put the mango in first as it creates
the juice which the spinach can be blended into).
2 Wash your spinach thoroughly and add to the blender.
3 Blend the two together thoroughly until a thick but bit-free consistency is achieved.
4 Taste-test: If it’s not sweet enough for you add 1–2 dates or more mango; if it’s too
    sweet add more spinach.
5 Finally, if you prefer your smoothie runnier, simply add water to reach desired
    consistency.
6 When you’re happy with taste and texture, pour into a tall glass and swoon! Feel the
green goodness flooding into you! You did good!

    I also do some:
1/2 cup of almond milk (unsweetened)
2 cups of greens/lettuce (any type)
    1/2 cup of carrots
    1 med banana
1 cup fruit (blueberries, strawberries, mango, apple, pear, cherries, mixed - frozen or fresh)
    1/2 - 1 scoop of protein powder
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp raw ginger
