Snow Crab Legs at a Buffet?!

I'm going to a Chinese buffet tonight.... and tomorrow (don't ask how this happened. I rarely go to buffets).

Originally, I planned on taking tomorrow "off" and just enjoying my favorite foods and track it under a generic "Chinese Buffet" entry, so I want to be good tonight. I'm going to focus on my favorite sushi and seafood options that aren't available at the place I'm going to tomorrow- and I'll remind myself that I can enjoy the more unhealthy foods tomorrow if i still really want them.

One of my favorite foods is Snow Crab legs, but most entries here are by weight. I'm not going to have a scale to weigh them. How do I track it?

I would not bother, just ignore & forget, then start again on Monday

I will be following this when I have pub lunch tomorrow, start again on Monday

You can use the "pack of cards equals 4 ounces" rule, to get a rough estimate. I log every day, even if I can't be precise, because knowing I am going to log the food keeps me from getting piggish.

I think a bushel of snow crabs (about 5-6 legs pieces) is a pound. Don't quote me on that, but run to the grocery store and ask them. lol

That is tempting. I don't plan on not tracking at all, but I'm going to just use a generic entry for a buffet meal and not micromanage my intake. Tonight, however, I plan on making sure most of my food is seafood (snow crab legs, sushi, mussels, etc) since I know I won't be able to get that stuff tomorrow. At the same time, I also am aware that the "healthier" fare tomorrow isn't as good.

So, I'll probably go over my calories today and tomorrow, but with the exception of these two meals, I'm still tracking. I might not make an extra effort to have a super healthy breakfast (I'm looking at peanut butter on a bagel with banana slices tomorrow), but I know if I don't track at all it's only setting me up to go on a complete out of control binge.

1 cluster (5 legs) of snow crab legs = roughly about 1/2 pound which is about 90 calories. This is the weight with the shell and everything. I think about 150g is the actual meat you get out of the legs and claw of the crab cluster. As long as you aren't drowning them in melted butter, crab legs are low in fat, good on protein and low in calories.

I LOVE crab legs. As long as you don't dip them in anything (I like them plainly steamed, maybe with a bit of dark vinegar) they are low cal and high protein. Enjoy your buffet!!
