Trying to find that extra bit of motivation

Hello! My name is Kelsi and I have been struggling with my weight most of my life- and many of the ways I had decided to loose weight in the past were very unhealthy. Being older now my goals have changed and my ideas of what I want to get out of my body.
I have never been a runner and honestly I struggle with it. My goal now is to become more physically in shape and to be able to run a 5k or to be able to climb one of the many mountains here in Colorado.
For those of you who have begun to train to become better runners, or really to just gain more endurance, what where the main factors that helped you to achieve your goal? Thank you!

I've recently just gotten into running & I LOVE it, which is something I never thought I'd be able to say. I'm not a 'natural runner' & couldn't even run a mile when I started, but worked my way up to 8 miles!! My tips would be start slow...be patient with yourself & listen to your body--walk & take rest days when you need to. The one thing that helped me the most was having someone to run with. I need someone to hold me accountable or I won't go. & having someone to talk to makes the time go by much faster!! good luck & feel free to add me :)

I have been Jogging for about a year now. when I started I was walking and only going for about 30 min. now I can run 10 km without stopping although not very fast. What has hepled me achieve this goal? just a desire to be healthier I have always been bigger and still am trying to change that. I never liked jogging before because I feel I am so slow but I guess I just don't care anymore how fast i go as long as I see improvement over time. Jogging is something I enjoy a lot now but I also find injuries very frustrating. Good luck in achieving your goals and have fun with it.
