I'm 32, 225 lbs, hoping to get under 200 lbs first on my quest toward 180. I've always been a fatass, in my mid-twenties weighing in at almost 300 lbs.
I've been active the past couple of years, hiking most weekends and backpacking overnighters. For the past couple of months I've been trying to start a regular workout routine, and although I've stuck with most programs I try, I abhor exercising indoors. To battle this I've started a 5k training program.
I've always wanted to run, but never had enough feelings of efficacy to actually start. My exercise goal is to stick with the 8-week program and run a full 5k at the end. I've never ran more than a mile at a time in the past.
I've never had much luck with calorie counting, but I think this was because I was trying to be too precise and exact. This time, I am OK with searching for my foods and using "good enough" results. I also hope having an actual smartphone (No, my old Blackberry Torch totally doesn't count) will make this easier.
Wish me luck, and I could definitely use some friends Especially other biguns who know the pain of exercising with an extra 40+ pounds of blubber.

Hi! I'm brand new here, too. I have been biking and trying to watch what I eat and haven't had much success. I am hoping the MFP will help me see what I am missing. I have over 100lbs to lose. I rode my bike 30 miles today and believe me, I know the feeling of hauling too much blubber. :happy:0
