Caloric Intake

Options
Question...I had always heard not to go under 1500 calories in a day. I would like to lose 2lbs a week which I also read was a safe goal. However, my caloric intake is set at 1200 calories a day. When I calculate my BMI, it's at 1550. What's safe?

Two pounds a week might not be unsafe or unhealthy (if you're very careful about your macro and micro intakes with your food) but, for most people, it's not sustainable. However, most people who are successful at losing and then maintaining at their healthy weight, do so slowly.

Do you mean BMR not BMI?

Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a good idea to eat below BMR. If it's 1550 that's what your body would need if you did nothing else, not even getting out of bed. Most of us are at least lightly active during the day without workouts. If your exercise routine is consistent perhaps try figuring your TDEE and take a % cut from that. It should keep you above BRM, but below maintenance.
