effective way to lose weight

Buying single serving packages of foods -- especially snacks -- is a great way to control portions. Not only will they help you eat in moderation, the nutrition information is also handy.
If single serving bags prove too pricey, measure out individual servings into plastic bags when you buy the larger size packages. Just don't reach for a second bag or this trick won't prevent overeating.

I'm not sure about the single serving packages... that would encourage processed foods I would think... but pre measuring sounds like a good idea :)

Yes! This is what I do...separate everything into single serve packages.
I cook for the week in advance and separate each meal into separate containers. It works out great!
    Good luck with your goals!

I think learning to measure would be a better tool, I don't want to have to buy single servings for the rest of my life. Would rather learn what a good portion size is.

Effective way to lose weight: eat less, move more. There!
  • I think it would depend on what KIND of snacks they were. . . but maybe that's just me. You can measure out miniature cookies and eat a proper portion size or you can measure out a little baggie of apples.

I am going to start separating my portions again. In the past I did better at managing my weight when I portioned my food right after buying my food. I buy single serve packets for some of the treats I eat and I think I will start doing that for most of my treats.
