I have been on it since April 2013.Have lost 23.4 lbs (the ticker is broken) and I just love this way of eating. Very sustainable. There is a 5:2 group on MFP.

Yes, this ticker is annoying me too. I have lost more than one. I did check the group out. I do want to read book. It's only 3 bucks for my kindle if I am looking at the right one on Amazon. Is there one that is better than the other?

There are a couple of groups here on the forums.

I did it August to October and lost quite a lot of weight. Faster than I am now on a more conventional calorie deficit. I thought it would find it psychologically easier to suffer occasional extreme deprivation than constant low level deprivation. After all, you only hold out one day until you can eat freely again. Turns out I was wrong about that. I was eating at TDEE on my feed days.

I still believe it is a good way to build in a calorie deficit. It removes a lot of uncertainty of having to log accurately all of the time. However, I struggled with being distracted by thinking about food a lot on my fast days. I stopped when I went on vacation and never really started again.

If you find it suits you psychologically it can definitely become a sustainable lifestyle. My old GP (in another city) used to fast one day a week whenever he noticed his weight was creeping up. I am glad about the experience. IF taught me that it doesn't kill me to feel hungry. It also taught me the difference being feeling peckish and having physical hunger.

I lost 1.3 kilos or nearly 3 pounds in my first week. So far so good, like the fact you can still eat something rather than nothing and I also find my non fast days that Im not over eating.

Out of the many books offered online or on Amazon are there any that are better than the other or is the concept just this simple?
2 days at 500 (non consecutive days) for women. 5 Eat at TDEE -20% (if trying to lose)?
