Hello everyone. So I am finding that I do great all week and come Friday-Sunday I blow it! I know I am sabotaging my weight lose progress! My problem is that all of our social events (which is pretty much every weekend) is centered around food and drinks. How do I find a happy medium? Where I can enjoy a drink here and there and indulge some? Not sure what to do? Does anyone else have this same problem??? HELLLLPPPPP :grumble:

You have a calorie counter and macro counter available for you to fit items in; the rest is just having the willpower to stick to the caloric goals you agreed upon adhering to.0 -
Here are some reminders (for us both!)
1. Allow yourself to have some fun - but continue to track it
2. Exercise! By yourself - or get an exercise group together and strive to work out hard at least sat or sun. If you can do both great - that gives you some extra calories to work with. Run, Hike, Walk anything for as long as possible. In the am best - then it is over!
3. Drink water in between cocktails. Track your cocktails!
4. Enjoy the food - but just keep to portions and do not binge - again water water water to fill up.
5. Try to fill up your plate with mostly vegis and fruit. If you are going out - plan. Look at website first. Hav eit in your head so you dont blow up.0 -
I have a similar problem in that we do a lot of socialising and eating out on the weekends. A few things I do are:
1) stock up a few extra calories a day on weekdays - 250cal x 5 days = 1250 extra for the weekend
2) extra exercise - I do my food shopping on foot on the weekend and carry it home in a hiking backpack. We walk everywhere pretty much. If it's going to be a sedentary day I might go out for a cycle in the morning.
3) my meals are different in that on weekdays I tend to have 3 meals/3 snacks. On the weekend I tend to have 2 large meals instead (i either skip breakfast or have something very small)
4) I don't drink regularly but when I do, spacing out my drinks with non-alcoholic drinks helps.0 -
I wish I could help, but to get over that part of my life I almost completely cut it out. On the rare occasion I do go out for drinks with the girls I drink seltzer and vodka with a lime (or a gin and tonic) or MGD 64 if available. Stay away from sugary mixers!! I also go light in the day if I know I'll be wasting calories on drinking haha I'm just a boring old married lady now. My friends realize that this was a lifestyle change I needed to make and don't harp for me to come out with them anymore. It was hard at first, but now I don't miss the bar scene at all!0

I just eat lighter during the week to allow for some indulgence on the weekends.0

I have that problem too and was constantly gaing back weight on weekends. i tried swithing to maintenance calories for the weekend. It worked last weekend...I stayed the same.
Let's see how it goes.0 -
If I know I'm going out I will get a good workout in, eat light throughout the day, and then when I'm out for the night I focus on conversation and the association instead of the the food and drinks. I'll have one lower calorie drink and then switch to iced tea. You can still go out and have fun with your friends. You just need to tweak your choices a little. You don't need to eat and drink all night to have fun.0

I used to have that problem. So I dropped my daily calories during the week so I'd have extra for the weekends, and now I'm losing again. I found it easier to change my diet to fit my life, rather than change my life (which I love) to fit a diet.0

I struggle with this too. What helps me is to do a really long workout on Saturday morning so that I start the weekend ahead of things. When I eat out or cookout I try to eat lean meats and veggies primarily. It seems mixed drinks seem to have a lot of calories so I try to stick to a glass or two of wine. It is hard but you can do it. You have to be willing to give up some things sometimes. At the same time, an occasional night where you eat what you want is fine too. Just not every Friday, Saturday and Sunday!0 -
Weekend are tough for me too. Especially when it comes to how often I eat (I try to eat 5-6 small healthy meals a day)
Most weekdays, I'm first up in my home, prepare my own breakfast and lunches/snacks for work. I get home first at the end of the day and prepare dinner for everyone, but have control over how I prepare.
Weekends get tough because everyone is usually home all day and with errands and family events, I can't always eat when/what I want. Yesterday for instance, we unexpectedly had to spend most of the day helping a family member prepare a rental home they manage to be ready for new tenant. No food in the empty home and when someone went to Taco Bell to get lunch for people who wanted it, I just passed.
But as other noted, you just have to be as diligent as possible when you are in control of things to help make up for times when things are less in your control.0 -
Great tips guys! This is the first time I have ever posted on a message board. I love the support and to know that I am not alone in this Weight Struggle. Great feedback, Thanks again0
