Hello,
Would anyone be able to recommend some very basic strength training that I can do at home? I am 5'7" and 246 pounds, if that makes a difference. Thank you for any helpful suggestions and/or advice.

Nerdfitness has a great bodyweight strength training routine. It might be a way to get started if time/space are an issue... as well as gym membership.

If you're looking for a strength training DVD, Jari Love's Get Ripped series is a good one. She gives lots of prompts on proper form and is easy to follow. Her workout DVD "Get Ripped and Chiseled" is the closest thing I've found to the barbell class at my gym!0
