Since I Suck at Macros should I quit Heavy Lifting?

First of all, all I wanna do is fit into my prepregnancy clothes. My *kitten*, thighs and belly are too big to get into them. I was 140lbs prepreg and now Im like 155lbs. I have been heavy lifting consistantly since April 1st and doing cardio twice a week and eating 1700cals a day with 1-2 days over cals per week. Since I am already a healthy weight and just really need to drop body fat, then why don't I just focus on cardio and healthy eating rather than heavy lifting and hitting macros almost perfectly (especially protein) because I never hit macros that good. I hate doing it! It's totally not sustainable for me. I like to eat healthy AND I like to eat fat/sugar sometimes. But more healthy than not. AND instead of waiting for the baby to go to bed so I can do heavy lifting, I can do out for a run with the stroller right after work and supper???? So what if I lose some LBM. It's probably better for me to cardio burn these last few pounds THEN go to heavy lifting and define the new, less fatty body.... Does this sound like a plan or what? I need to know buecause i hate this body ive been given after pregnancy. I want to be happy with my body again. What in the heck do i need to do? not do?

No. Heavy lifting will HELP you lose fat. And keep you from losing muscle.
If you lose 10 pounds of fat but also lose 10 pounds or muscle in the process, you are going to look the same. And that will be extremely frustrating lol. Holding on to lean mass is just as important as the fat loss. Body composition is way more important than a number on the scale.0 -
This is getting frustrating.
I have an idea. Why don't you go look at your own post history, and re-read all the threads you've started lately? All the answers to your questions are already in there.
You want, you want, you want..People told you how to get what you want, but you won't follow through with a routine. Asking the same question 10 times, in 10 different ways won't change the answer just because you didn't like it the first time.0 -
If you're not losing fat the problem is your diet not your exercise. Keep the lifting so you'll hang on to your muscle and drop your calories by a couple hundred.
Also work on loving the body you have. It's difficult and I've been struggling with it myself lately, but it's worth working on. Mental health is important too, and losing fat may help your self-image, but it may not. And read this:

Okay thanks. Diet is so hard.... I love greek yogurt! I love fruit! I love sauce. I force vegetables and I find it so annoying to hit 115g of protein per day. I eat olive oil, walnuts and almonds. The only thing i feel i can do for diet, is to cut out chips, candy, chocolate, desserts, burger joints, deep fried foods totally. The is totally manageable for me. So really though guys, what is wrong with my diet. What do i need to do while continuing to lift heavy? do i need to do more cardio too? My macros are set at 35/35/30 carbs/protein/fat. Is that good enough? Also, i have type 1 diabetes and hypothyroid. They are both controlled. I really really really want fatloss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

It's hard to say because of your medical conditions but my standard response is to cut cals by a couple hundred. It's not that you're eating "bad foods" (I don't believe in such a thing). If you aren't losing fat it's that you're eating too much.
You've also got some things that seem like logging accuracy issues. A slice of carrot cake with icing for 140 calories? Seems unlikely unless it's a VERY small slice. Anything with "generic" in the title that isn't a whole food is suspect as well. Make sure you're logging accurately, entering your own recipes, etc. I'd aim for 1500 calories if 1700 isn't working. Reevaluate in a month.0 -

So generic foods are logged incorrectly on MFP - is that what u mean? cuz i just entered clams today and I can't beleive that there's really 37g of protein in 12 small clams - holy moly!!! If so, im gonna eat clams everyday!0 -
Get better at macros would be my suggestion. Heavy lifting and eating a certain amount of protein are necessities if you're going for a certain physique. If you just want to lose weight, then do all the cardio you want. But without resistance training and adequate protein, you're probably not going to like the way you look when you reach your goal weight.0

I struggle to get 100g of protein daily (that's about 1 g per lb of LBM if I've calculated correctly) but I keep working at it. Some days I get just 50 others I'm near 80 or better. One thing that helps is having some protein snacks around - nuts, protein bars, boiled eggs, even protein powder. I also love canned salmon at lunch - I get the same size can as a regular can of tuna, and I eat it plain out of the can or over a salad (rather than mixing it up with mayo). It's another good protein source. I figure, I may not be reaching my macro goal, but as long as I am aware of it and working toward it it's better than ignoring it.0

eggs and fish for when i'm having trouble hitting the protein.0

OP, it sounds like you received good advice, started to follow it, and have just given up. No one here can help with that. You either follow a program or you don't. It's a decision everyone has to make.
As for nutritional information, it's available on most food packaging, and if fresh and not marked, it is available on the USDA nutrition database website. Unfortunately, there are many people on MFP who simply don't care enough to enter information correctly. It is up to each one of us to take responsibility for our own exercise and nutrition programs and how we record them.0 -

This. Lift and concentrate on your body composition vs what you weigh. If I'm not mistaken, you are unhappy with how you look, not necessarily how much you weigh right?0 -
I'm bad at the macros and still lift heavy. I'm seeing progress anyway. Don't give up so easily, what you're doing is a lifestyle change. :drinker:0

You say you are hypothyroid. Have you tried avoiding gluten? Gluten doesn't just cause celiac. If your body has trouble digesting it, It also can attack the thyroid. Gluten is a metabolic inhibitor for blood type O (who are also prone to thyroid issues).
When i found out that gluten can impair iron absorption because it damages the intestines (and i'm chronically anemic) and that it can cause thyroid problems (and i've been hypothyroid for a decade) i started avoiding it. And i feel soooooo much better!
It wouldn't hurt to try. I noticed a difference in only a few weeks.
Do you also suffer from hay fever? Grass pollen allergies and gluten intolerance can also be connected. Gluten triggers all sorts of auto-immune stuff if you can't digest it properly. I wish someone had told me this a decade ago... would have saved me a lot of suffering, so i'm passing on what i've learned.
*Edit - also... why wait for your baby to go to bed? Babies are heavy... lift your baby0 -

My thyroid has been controlled by a little pill daily for 21 years. Yes I have hayfever but I take allergy pills for that. Can't get good lifting form with a baby in arms.0 -

Unhappy with body, happy with weight. Weight doesn't really matter but what I see does!0 -
User entered info can be very very wrong. Also carrot cake is going to vary a lot depending on the recipe and the size of the piece. Anything you make yourself you should enter in the recipe builder. Anything you buy store-bought double check the nutritional info. Whole foods can be double checked here:
http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list
And also read this about logging accuracy:

My thyroid has been 'controlled' by a little pill (synthroid) for 10 years. Controlled as in blood tests come back normal. But i still had fatigue symptoms and struggled with my weight. My basal body temp was always at least degree lower than normal even on meds. Since cutting out gluten, my basal body temp has gone up into normal range.
Low basal body temp = low metabolism. Low metabolism = really hard to lose weight.
I tested it out on the weekend and ate bread. My basal body temp plummeted compared to my normal temps in the past couple months. It went back up to normal when i cut out gluten again. Gluten messes with my metabolism even though my thyroid blood tests come back as 'normal range' on synthroid.
It may or may not work for you, it's just a suggestion. The baby lifting was a joke. Hence the wink face.
Good luck on your journey!0 -

So the norm for "certain amount of protein" is what? 1g per lb of LBM. My LBM is calculated at 116lbs but some say I should eat close to 150g of protein! As for wanting a certain physique - i want lean and muscle def all over. Not much! Just a little sexy amount and to look awesome in a bikini. Weight won't matter if i look good in a bikini. But I know that when i weighed 140lb i looked good in a biknini but now im 152lbs and probably don't look good in one. BUT maybe i will at 155lbs especially if i keep heavy lifting??? I am I getting this?0 -
ANOTHER QUESTION! What would happen if one continues to lift heavy but only meets calorie goals - they never meet macro goals. It would weight loss that happens, correct? There will be no body comp results because you aren't feeding the body the nutrients it needs, specifically lots of protein! Right?0

Nobody has ever dedicated themselves to the gym 100% for any prolonged length of time and not looked good.
Keep going as you are, you'll be fine.
