Running question

Hi all. I've been running about 6-7 miles a day. Unfortunately my schedule just shifted and I can only run in the evenings (around 6 pm). After running this far every night I find it very hard to sleep and I end up tossing and turning all night. Anybody else have this problem? Any suggests besides figuring out a way to run earlier in the day? Thanks!

I deal with this... Or DID deal with this, when i used to run a lot, and it was awful. 30 min meditation/complete stillness (control breathing, posture). Or food, I think food helps... I used to eat up until I would eat way too much and decided to cut it out completely, after running. Good luck!

I find a hot bath calms my muscles and warms my body so I can get to sleep after a long run. Its terrible laying there awake knowing you MUST sleep!!! Good luck!!

I simply can not do hard exercise at night. I have to knock it out early in the a.m. or on my lunch breaks. Anything after 6:00 pm and I'm all out of whack for the evening. Sorry I can't help.

Good luck! Finding or making time (that is just a crappy concept) is difficult to do at best. But your dedication to run at any time is awesome! Keep it up!

I think a hot bath with a calming bath salt (scent) might help. Again good luck!

I have the same problem. It does seem to be related to distance, which sucks if you are training for a longer run (I am) and/or are trying to get around 1000 calories burned (I like doing math with numbers that are easy to add/subtract  ). Anyway, I find that I can run a 5k at night and then go right to sleep, but somewhere in the 4-5 mile range the endorphin (I think; this is a guess from my experience not something I know for a fact) kicks in. You might try that; it's better than no run if it works.
