keeping Hunger at bay. Help.......

I have now been on MFP for 15 days, i have stuck to my menu, i have felt fine and not needed to snack. But today even though i have stuck to my menu i feel hungry. I keep having thoughts of food i should not be eating. I am drinking enough fluids,
It is so easy to go make a sandwich or get some biscuits. I have had enough fruit and veg, thank goodness there is no chocolate in the house, I cannot fall by the wayside, i cannot give up now,,,what do i do,,,,,,

try chewing gum , it helps me . do you have a garden , if your digging in the dirt your hands will be dirty so you can't grab anything to eat!!

    Carrot sticks and water. Done.
  • Well done on getting this far.
It can be difficult when you try to cut down and the hunger pangs kick in.
I find drinking a couple of glasses of water helps to fill me up - often thirst can be mistaken for hunger too, so always try the water trick before anything else.
You could also gain some more calorie allowance by doing some extra exercise - maybe a brisk 15-20 mins walk could earn you 100+ more calories.
I also drink weak tea or weak coffee but make sure I count the milk in my allowance.
Other really useful tip is to eat very slowly - give each mouthful a good chew and savour the flavours (put your cutlery down between mouthfuls) - this makes you enjoy what you eat more, and gives you the feeling of fullness. Listen to your body and stop eating when you have had enough - after time, your stomach will shrink so that you will feel fuller sooner.
    Good luck
  • If it is not mealtime, try drinking a cup of coffee. Caffeine tends to keep hunger at bay for a while. Also, if you are absolutely starving, maybe your last meal was too small. Try to keep only healty snacks around when you have the hunger pangs. For example, sliced apples, grapes, saltines, carrot and celery sticks. Good luck, honey!!

For me on those days I just have to eat. I do my best to choose healthier foods or better portion size if I am still craving something naughty but I listen to my body and just eat, otherwise I will go off the deep end and end of really messing up my diet. Allow yourself a little lee way and it will actually be better for you!!

Some people say drinking a cup of tea is soothing. I eat a salad and then see if I still want something. Also take a nap.

First of all, make sure you are eating enough! Also make sure you are eating healthy fats. Healthy fats will make you feel full and satiated for much longer and your skin, hair and fingernails will thank you for them. Next, make sure you are getting enough protein. Protein will help you feel full for longer as well. Eat a little protein with all of your snacks. Maybe an apple with some peanut butter, or some string cheese, etc. Plan your days out ahead of time so you can plan in snacks at times that you know you get hungry. Then, if all else fails, take a walk and see if you can distract yourself!
