Experiences with online stalking?

I was checking my Pinterest account today when I noticed that someone had created a really harsh parody account with one of my old pictures from 3-4 months ago. They'd re-pinned all of my old pins in hopes of getting my attention and sure, they did... months later. My reaction was to just to shake my head, report the account for attacking an individual and simply block it, so they're no longer able to follow me. My primary suspect for this move is either my ex of over three years ago or his current e-girlfriend (whom stalked my now deleted Facebook account on his behalf). The particular insults used smack of their previous attempts to perpetuate drama with me.

On the one hand, I'm annoyed. It's childish, petty, and fairly nuts. Furthermore, I don't think I'm interesting enough to fuel someone's online obsession. On the other hand, it's a bit intriguing. I can't help, but be a little bit fascinated by the whole phenomenon because it's not just my loony ex involved, he's gotten at least one other person whom doesn't even know me in on it.

Do any of you have any interesting experiences with online stalkers?

    Nothing stalkerish online.

But I did have an ex-girlfriend phone a current girlfriend's parents, and claim that I was still with her. That was a fun conversation with her dad that evening, I can tell you. And by fun, I mean 'terrifying'. The guy had fists the size of hams.

Thankfully, that's been the limit of my interaction with crazy people, so I think I've been pretty lucky.

Well I have a weird story...
Have you ever heard of World of Warcraft? -yeah i know im a nerd- Anyway, I was playing on that then suddenly a random guy started talking to me, saying some pretty harsh stuff. I just ignored it and blocked him.. Turns out he found my facebook account too and starting sending me messages on that, again, I blocked him. Then, when I go to check my emails he had sent me over 40 emails containing files which were presumably viruses. I asked him what the heck was up with him, he said he just wanted to talk. So, I added him on skype, and he called me on it. I asked what he wanted, why he was harassing me.. he had one of those voice changers and he said all these sadistic things and how he was going to kill me. I threatened to contact the authorities, and what do you know, he quickly switched the voice changer off and apologized... It was quite scary, but also funny. It's amazing how pathetic some people actually are, lol.

All you do is threaten to call the authorities and they shiver like a mouse in a cat cage.

Whoa. Truth be told, I played World of Warcraft for a while too. I had people mouth off to me in-game (as is the nature of the gamer), but never harass me outside of the game. That is some whackadoodle sh- er, stuff.

    Wow that's pretty impressive!

I had a guy that I went to school with get in touch a few years after leaving school. We'd text a lot, but then he got freaky and posssessive! If I didn't reply instantly, he'd bombard me with messages all in capitals asking if I'm ignoring him / demanding to know why I haven't replied. I was only earning £20 a week at the time and said I couldn't afford all this texting. He said he understood. Then the texts went on all day and most of the night.

If I was out, he'd want to know who I was with, where I was, what I was doing, how long I intended on staying out, etc. And boy did he not like it when I said I have a mum to report to, don't need anyone else! Ha!

And if I was low on credit and said can't text anymore sorry, on comes all the shouty capital letter text messages asking what he's done wrong, why don't I want to talk to him? And one time I went to the cinema and came out after to 5 text messages and some missed calls, each getting more erratic than the last, demanding to know why I hadn't replied. I said I was in the cinema! Apparently I was lying about that...

Then the messages got creepy and weird. That's when I said sorry can't be dealing with this anymore. Then ignored his messages. It took 3 months of him texting and calling day and night asking if I was dead, etc, before he finally got the hint.

Poor guy, he had it bad. Lonely, insecure, and in love is a bad mix. He probably has one hell of an inner dialog. Brain constantly picturing the what ifs and why is this happening? He probably would make a great writer, just a really bad boy friend until he stops being so insecure .

If it's just online, and they're doing things to get your attention, it's to get a reaction out of you. Do what you did, just ignore it and report. Any kind of acknowledgement will be an incentitive to go forward with whatever they're doing.
Eventually they will lose interest because you're "too boring."

Make sure all your profiles are private and be wary of accounts who want to befriend you. Make sure it wasn't just made and that they have more than one picture.

I ran a website for years and had a person email me multiple times "you're a predator, you're unattractive, and you're wrong" where they broke down every post (even random nonsensical ones) and explained to me how wrong, mean spirited, evil, and stupid I truly was. They sent the same emails twice last year, I never read them after reading the first few lines and skimming through the quotes from my website and there "breakdown reap once" I realized it was just hate mail and deleted it. I am sure they will send me another this year. Its like a Christmas or a birthday card they really love to hate me.

I have a website that mocks a blog I wrote when I was 19. I will not link it because it actually was a bit hurtful. I deleted an email and my Xanga account to hopefully prevent anyone from linking me And the hater page to me.

Supposedly someone convinced a soldier overseas that they ran said website and was "me" however that their real name was different because "Serena" was a pen name and personality they created to host said website. This person supposedly sent them a small fortune to cover rent and life expenses. I have no idea if its true or not.

I have never had a real stalker, unless my ex counts.
