New here, unmotivated with life today, worried to slip

Hi everyone,
I am new to the community here and I would like to say hello!
My question here is, how do you cope with unmotivated, uninspired days? Right now, I am not too excited about anything I used to like. I would probably go running or do some sort of exercise. Seeing as my calves are sore from an unexpected steep uphill walk the other day, I can't do much exercise. Have to take care of the muscles.
So, I'm worried about slipping. Only exciting thing today would be to eat and maybe watch a movie but I am not actually hungry. I don't want my life to revolve around food again. It should not be the exciting part of my day.
What does one do? My love for music - uninspiring. My goals, meh. I guess I feel in a rut today. Would be nice I could at least work on this healthy goal.
Any words will be greatly appreciated - I'd love to hear if some of you feel this way.

Everybody has those days. Sometimes you just have to push through it and make yourself work out. Once you get started it will get your endorphins flowing and you'll get into it. If not, either push through it anyways because you'll be glad you did or do something else. Why not try a new workout that you enjoy? Maybe Zumba or dancing?
There are several videos online that have dance workouts and that's what I like to do if I just can't face Jillian Michaels, insanity, etc.
Sometimes I look on Pinterest at the fitness/exercise boards and those usually give me motivation.
But if you are in a funk I highly suggest dancing. I won't do it in front of anyone but I have a blast making a fool out of myself because I'm a horrible dancer and it really lifts my mood.0 -
Your post makes me smile. I do enjoy dancing and pinterest is a good place for some inspiration. I will try a bit of pinterest first. Thank you
I am happy to be able to talk about this with a community that respects health goals. The advice is so simple yet my usual friends don't really understand where to begin. Sometimes when we begin doubting ourselves, I find it is easy to slip from a happy mindset.
Has anyone else felt this uninspired/unmotivated way? With everything in general? What did you do?0 -
Being sore doesn't mean you don't exercise; that's an excuse we use when we don't want to move. Actually, getting moving when you're sore is the best way to start feeling better. You don't have to go squat 300+lbs but a nice walk or jog will loosen you up.
It sounds like you might be going through a depression (the severity is something I can't determine as I'm not a doctor). If it's not too severe, getting outside, exercising, and eating right actually help you to feel better mentally. It's getting past that "I don't want to" that's the difficult part. How do you do it?
Just do it. One step at a time. Don't try every healthy thing possible all in the next 40 minutes. Today, take a walk while the sun's out.
Tomorrow, exchange a normal food item for a healthier choice.
The next day, do both.
Let the healthy habits build on each other. Don't overdo it, but also don't allow the negative feelings feed you bs excuses to remain on your butt.
I was diagnosed with major depression in 2010 at 20yo and after 2 different therapists, 4 different medications, and a damn family intervention, eating better and exercising was the thing that worked best for me.
Good luck and feel free to add me. I'm not always nice, but I am always supportive.0 -
Sorry to hear about your lack of motivation. Have you looked at your goals and what you plan to accomplish? Set some small goals and put in some rewards for when you reach each milestone. I also agree with the other poster that going online for motivation is helpful. Pinterest, Tumblr, youtube tutorials may give you some inspiration. I felt unmotivated today too, but made my schedule and had an extra cup of coffee for a pep. Hope your day gets better. Take care!

Thanks for the tips guys! I am thinking to do some step elliptical first and hopefully my calves will feel less sore. Then a nice calm shower, clean myself up to go walk around a bit. Hopefully this will pick up my mood a bit.
Geekprincess8 you are right. I need to set some smaller goals and give myself a pat on the back. I will start with some basic things I remember I wanted to do but I just can't figure why I've lost the motivation.
I hope you are all having a wonderful day. I appreciate the support0 -
I feel like this a lot of the time too. I kind of wonder if that's what it means to be depressed. Exercise helps me get through it, makes me sort of float through the day.... I try not to eat as a way to cope anymore.0
