Hi all!
I'm almost a week late in actually getting to introductory stuff! But having counted calories once not long ago (usefully, I should add!) I found it was a nice way to track what I was taking in but wow was it terrible having to try and make a note every time I ate something to jot it down. 5 days ago I was playing around on my phone and stumbled into the app for MFP and though, why not - it might be worth another shot. Then a couple of days later I decided to take a peek at the web site.
And that's where I think it's got me! Having quietly been reading a fair amount of posts over the last few days, and from the general look and feel of how the site works, I've got to say it seems like it'll be a lot lot easier mentally to keep at it without going loopy with all these other people doing the same thing (rather than the mandatory half a dozen people we all probably know who are dieting at any one given time).
I re-weighed today and suddenly, seeing a little tally on the main page of "You've lost 3lbs!" I've got to say the part of me that likes a song and dance when I'm doing well is very much appeased :happy:
Anyway. I'm Sam - nice to meet you! And nice to see there are some other guys out there, it's amazing how "uncool" people seem to think you are for being male and wanting to lose weight. We'll show 'em.

Hi Sam,
I'm Cynthia....this is my second week on MFP. I am glad to see there is men having the same struggles as woman do and do care about wanting to be healthy and have some of the same worries we do.
Weight loss isn't easy but this site and the people on it will help keep us motivated to do our best.

It's much more acceptable if you strut unto the gym and throw 225 up on Bench Press isn't it? (Regardless if you can do it)
Let me tell you, having fought my weight since high school, nothing had worked until I started counting calories. 80% of this battle is nutrition. Don't let anyone tell you different.0
