Over on my protein

Hi All,
I am over on my protein every day. Is this really bad? I am always over on my sugar too and that seems to be because of my fruit. I am not concerned about that because it seems like a lot of ppl agree that is an unrealistic goal. I just wanted some input on the protein since i seem to always be over on that as well.. Also looking for suggestions on what to eat that may be low or is this not something i should be trying to limit?? Thanks for all helpl!

I'm very interested in this as well.... I am over on my protein every day! For me that is the only thing I'm over on (for the most part). I have been wondering if that could be part of my issue recently.0

Many people eat a lot more protein than MFP recommends. MFP's protein recommendation is generally set at the low end (15%). Unless you have kidney issues which require keeping low protein, there's nothing wrong with it.0

my breakfast is loaded with it since i eat a chobani yogurt... and i eat about 4 oz of meat for lunch and dinner..0 -

MFP's protein default is set pretty low. I usually think of it as a bare minimum rather than a maximum. A lot of us have gone in and set our macros closer to 30% protein. So no, I wouldn't worry about going over on protein. While it is theoretically possible to eat too much I don't think you're anywhere near having to worry about it.0

I ask that same question to the Dietitian during my one on one with her. She said it was fine to eat extra protein. This is very important before and after the surgery. This is all new to me too but, it seems to be working. I love this program because I had enough of writing things down when I did WW. I have lost 15 pounds so far since my 1st group meeting with the dietitian in May .I drink a lot of protein shakes. I manage a meal once per day but, the blender is my friend. Protein whey, skim milk, fresh or frozen fruit and a contain, 1 serving of non fat yogurt. Very important to use portion control. I do go over on my sugars also. Something I will talk to the Dietitian the next time I see her.0

My protein goal is 140. it's a wide target. I am fine with anything betweeen 120 annd 1600 -
i'm ALWAYS over on my protein.. my trainer/nutritionist uses MFP as well and said that the MFP goal for protein is very low compared to what i should really be eating on a daily basis.0

If you aren't going over on your protein, eat A LOT more protein. If you are going over by just a little on your protein, eat A LOT more protein. If you are going over by a lot on your protein, you should probably still eat more protein. MFP set protein ungodly low.0

I am relieved to see, I am not the only one. I have only been doing this for about 11 days. However, I have been over on protein and low on calories since day one. It's all lean protein, but never the less over by a good bit.0

I see a lot of comments saying they're struggling to get enough protein. Are you on a vegetarian/vegan diet? If so, you'll need to look at some alternative sources, but for me, I get a LOT of protein from Greek yogurt, chicken breast, cheese, and eggs. Fish is also a great source of protein.
If you ARE following a vegetarian/vegan diet, you can get protein from nuts, beans, tofu, and other soy products.0
