I am a mother of 3 (1 girl and twin boys) and have been disabled for 5 years and have gained a considerble amount of weight. I am limited to the exercises I can do because of several herniated disks. I have decided to do as much exercise as I can in my pool. I just went water jogging (if you want to call it that) with a float around me for support, I can't swim yet because I tried it and the curving of my back hurt. Does anyone have suggestions how to strenghten the back muscles without straining the spine too much. I think if I can work my core muscles and tummy it could help my back. But so far what I have tried is too painful and I end up on bed rest and pain killers. Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. I'm only 44 and don't want to be an invalid.

Great first step in coming here. Don't feel overwhelmed and don't try to push too hard too fast. You may have to do things a little differently than you'd like but you CAN do this. Good luck0
