fitbit vs alternatives

I am looking to buy an exercise monitor to help motivate and track my activity level. Of course I don't want to spend a fortune if I don't have to. Any weigh ins or suggestions on gadgets that get the job done? I would love some feedback. I have an iPhone 5 and the Polar ft7 heart rate monitor. Thanks!

UP by Jawbone works like FitBit and is a bracelet form, which to me is more convenient. It's $125 and you can get it at the AT&T store.0

I just got a fitbit one and I love it. Its doesnt actually do anything to make you more active obviously, but having it on makes you more conscious of moving more and not being slack. Like I take the stairs now not the elevator because it will track as stairs anyway and I'd rather it not be inaccurate lol
I love that it tracks my sleep, which is something I struggle with - I'm trying harder to get 8 hours every night and being more conscious of the fact that to do that I need to actually go to bed lol.
I think when it comes down to it they are all very similar. The one you have to clip onto your clothes and then put in a wrist band to sleep. Lots of people say they lose them this way - I'm hoping that won't be a problem for me. The fitbit flex is a bracelet but I prefer the fact that mine is hidden away - though ultimately i got the one because I couldnt wait the 8 weeks backorder time. I also read some bad reviews about the bracelet style trackers because of water damage. regular showering is supposed to be ok but there seem to be some issues still.0 -
I'm really hacked off that I lost my fitbit ultra after less than a year - and now it's not available. The latest range of fitbits have less functionality, and frankly they could do a lot more to make them secure. The company hasn't answered my question about getting a replacement ultra and as a result I am not inclined to waste any more of my hard-earned cash on them.
For me, priority would be something that locks onto your clothes/belt. I'm in the UK and I've noticed that some brands only cover the US, Canada and Australia. If anyone knows of something that meets those requirements please shout
