Weight Gain- the Scale and I Broke Up (pics)

For the past 3-4 years I have always lingered around 115 pounds. I'm a very active person, I love running, lifting, zumba, spinning, any type of class I can get my hands on, etc. Well, some time between New Years this year and March, probably a two month time span, I gained 10 pounds. I'm not even exaggerating. This morning I stepped on the scale at 126. A couple weeks ago it was 127. I am only 5'0, so 10 pounds to me feels like 50. I was devastated the first time I stepped on the scale in March and saw 127. I had been going to the gym religiously, trying to work on the food I ate, was making hedgeway lifting weights like a champ, and I gained weight. I actually had a breakdown, right there in the gym, crying like a baby because the last time I saw that weight I was a senior in high school, 5 years ago.
Once I got over the initial annoyance of the weight gain and the "wtf have I been doing for the last few months that I gained this weight" thought process, sat down and re-evaluated my goals, diet, and workout program, I turned that anger into fuel for my workouts.
I've lost 1 pound in the past month lol. 1 pound! But I'm writing this to help others realize that the scale does not always dictate how you look.
These pictures are of me when I was 115:
Me and the fiance last summer
Before starting Insanity in the fall
Me and mom at a wedding in the fall
And these are of me this morning and yesterday (sorry for the goofy faces  ):
Me flexing at the gym this morning, of course.
Trying on jeans that didn't fit me a month ago (and now they do!)
Size 4 dress that I tried on yesterday that I ended up buying for a wedding this weekend.
I'm still working hard every single day and I would like to continue losing, but I don't beat myself up about the weight I have gained because I am now going off of looks. Try to not get discouraged when you notice you gained weight until it becomes a real problem, like your clothes really aren't fitting anymore and you don't feel comfortable in your own skin.
Now, in my case, my clothes did stop fitting and that's how I knew I had to stop and look at what I was doing that made me gain weight. My pants stopped fitting and my butt got larger. With lifting, however, it has also gotten rounder and firmer, so I'm not complaining too much about the gain in that area (and neither is my fiance hehe)
Hope this helps someone :flowerforyou:

You look awesome, Jackie!!
I have a picture of me a year ago at the same weight I'm at now and it's too embarrassing to share!! I weigh the same now but am way more firm. It's crazy.
You look just so amazing!0 -
Thanks for sharing what a MOTIVATION. Even in the pics you can see the difference in muscle tone. Keep up the hard work!0

Thank you for taking the time to share :-) It is indeed very encouraging. Because you look great. You look strong! Someday in the very near future, I will toss my scale. Or perhaps avoid it like the plague. because finally, after reading dozens of success stories like yours, NSV's, and seeing pictures as proof, I realize that the number on the scales is not everything.
Cheers :-)0 -
Great job!! And it is definitely nice to have a reminder that the scale does not always reflect the truth!0
