Hi all,
A work friend told me about this site at lunch time today after I had eaten my chocolate and crisps. I was determined to be good today but just couldn't resist.
I got married last year and since then the weight has crept on. All my clothes are getting tight and really uncomfortable. My husband isn't very supportive but I think that's because he's also over weight but doesn't want to do anything about it except complain.
I'm really impatient and want quick results but I know that's not realistic. I've tried dieting several times but only ever manage a few days during the week and then crack when the weekend arrives. I joined a class in my gym a few months back but haven't seen any results from it :frown:
I really need some motivation! I've read some storied on here and some are really inspiring, I just hope I can remember them when the chocolate starts to call again!

Well you've taken the first step. Some advice I can give about wanting to lose weight quickly is- you are not alone. Everyone wants it off quickly and when we cannot see the light (results) at the end of the tunnel then we get discouraged and just stop the diet all together...leading to some-all-or even more weight gain. The solution? Tell yourself that THIS TIME when the weight comes off it is going to STAY OFF because you are going to learn a new way to look at food and exercise, instead of losing the weight quickly through crash dieting and maybe diet pills. People on here are so supportive and give great advice and recommendations. Everyone is different though so ultimately you need to learn what works best for YOU and what helps you stay motivated and strong when it comes to those chocolate cravings. I crave chocolate too. What I have found (from an ad on this site in fact) is chocolate vita-muffins. They are 100 calories and totally soothe my craving so I do not indulge in something less healthy. And they are loaded with vitamins! Anyhoo, good luck hun and stay focussed!0

For me it took getting my mind really set that I was going to "do this!" I had wanted to lose weight for 20+ years and would also manage a few days here and there, might even lose 10-15 pounds only to gain it back. Over the years, the weight kept creeping on, pound by pound, inch by inch until last fall I was finally disgusted enough with myself to commit to really sticking with a plan. So would say that if you are committed to losing weight, you need to develop/adopt a weight loss plan that works for you. I found 6 women who I emailed weekly with my progress (as I weighed in once a week) and I faithfully logged every morsel of food I ate and would often plan out my entire day in advance so that I had food with me at work to reach for rather than grabbing what was in the office kitchen. I worked out 2x a week for 20-30 minutes each time and have tried to improve on that as I go. I shop and eat the perimeter of the grocery store, meaning fresh vegetables and fruits, dairy and lean meats. This is what worked for me, as I an now at goal after 7 months and in maintenance phase. We all slip along the way, but the main difference is that we forgive ourselves and start over as many times as necessary to keep moving forward. I encourage you to truly commit to your efforts mentally and then you can make it happen!!! Good luck to you on this journey!0

I agree with ashlee954 that you are not alone in wanting to lose weight quickly. We all want fast results - but remember this - you did not gain the weight overnight and likewise, you will not lose it overnight. Set your mind on your goal and make the necessary plans to achieve those goals. Don't get discouraged when you don't see the results that you think you should see. Instead, stay focus, stick with the plan and you will be glad that you did.0

I use MFP for motivation but also belong to a TOPS group. The one thing I got that I think is important is PUT YOURSELF FIRST!!!!!!! We cater to everyone's needs and there is no time left over for our personal self. Get yourself healthy and happy and you will have more to give to others. Your husband will in time come around when he finds he can no longer sabatoge what you are trying to do for yourself. You might even catch him looking at how he is eating. My husband didn't care either until he starting wearing 46 pants. He has become aware of health problems and is watching better what he eats. Since April 2010 he has dropped one pants size. Just bought 44's for the first time in a long time. Keep lots of fruits on hand and don't bring home junk food. Don't eat out often because there are a lot of hidden calories in resturant foods. Good Luck0
