Calories burned during dancing?

I just joined a Zumba dance class and really love it. I see that MFP does not recognize zumba in the exercise category yet. "Ballroom dancing/ fast" is the only thing I can use to estimate, but I don't know if that is a good comparison. Does anyone have any idea how many calories an hour of zumba burns?

    It really depends on the person and how much they are giving during the class. The range can be from 350 to 800 or more. Until you decide to invest in a heart rate monitor I have seen people post it under Dancing (Aerobic, Ballet, Modern, Twist). Hope that helps :flowerforyou:

    I did an internet search, too, and it says zumba classes burn anywhere from 500-800 calories, depending on the effort you put into it. That was good to know. My earlier calculation was way below the minimum. Thanks for your feedback!
