so here's the deal. i live in TX, its august, that means its 102 or higher out (the low last night was 90 DX i haaaate it!) and before it got this hot i was going walking often, i have this nice pretty nature trail just a 7-10 minute walk from my house, it was fun and i enjoyed it a lot. but now that its hotter then an oven outside i really dont want to risk heat stroke or yet another massive sun burn (i've had 4 already this summer!). i need an indoor exercise that burns as well as hiking does. any suggestions? keep in mind i dont have any work out videos or exercise machines and i kinda need this today because i'm going out to dinner with my BF and we're going to a place that doesnt exactly know the meaning of low calorie D8
thanks in advance!

how about jumping rope0

Jumping rope at a fast pace will really burn the calories! Even if you don't have an actual rope ~ good luck!!
but if you live upstairs, your downstairs neighbors might be alarmed:bigsmile:
cfaith beat me to it!0 -
Find a local spinning class!!!0

If you don't have a jump rope, just do jumping jacks! Run in place! Watch a TV exercise show and try to keep up. Do you have stairs? Stairs are major burners. House need cleaning? Wash windows and walls and scrub floors. Just keep moving!0

Do you have stairs? When i need a quick calorie burn, I will do step intervals. Basically, as if I'm running up the stairs, I put my right foot on the stair and step up. After bringing up my left foot, I jump back off the stair with my right, followed by my left. I will do this 10 or 20 times and then I will swap to my left foot starting out. Believe me, after 200 steps or so, I am sucking some serious wind. That must burn some nice calories!0

do you have cable? A lot of cable companies have fitness channels.
Do you have a Wii at home? Play some of those games, don't sit down. :-)
Do sit ups (put your feet under a table or the edge of a couch). Lift a bag of flour or cans. push ups. jog in place. jump rope.
I live in Texas as well, It's freakin hot here!0 -
Do you have OnDemand on your cable? If so there are a lot of workouts in there. You can make up your own walking in place/aerobics routine or just dance around. There are a ton of workouts on fitnessmagazine.com if you wanna look some up there. I'm sure there are also tons of other sites you could get some.0

I live in Texas too and I know what you mean. I have found that a jump rope is the ultimate and I am over 50 years old. You don't have to go crazy, just a constant repetative pace will get you sweating in no time! I have also purchased a cheap, but cute, hula-hoop. You can have fun exercising with that. My all time favorite is to crank up some music and start dancing. Make yourself dance for at least 30 min. Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and I even like Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake" to work out to. Enjoy yourself, and I have a couple more words for you.......Sun Block! lol Good luck to you on your weight loss!0

I realize you need the answer today and I think you got some good ideas, but for longer term if you want a hard-core DVD try Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred. There are 3 levels so you can start out with Level 1 (which will still burn plenty AND start toning you!) and then work your way up... it will burn fat and make you STRONG, I promise you. P.S. I'm in Houston so I know what you mean about the heat, believe me!!0
