So I have never been a diet. Which explains the fact that I need to go on a diet. So I'm a little concerned with how I'm planning my meals. I always thought that dieting is supposed to leave you hungry but I feel full when I eat. Is that normal? And it feels like I'm eating all the time. Here is what I ate/planning to eat today.

Breakfast 7am
3/4 cup Oatmeal
1/4 cup Blueberries
2 tbsp Pet - Evaporated Milk
290 cal

Snack 9:30am
1/2 cup 2% milk
1 1/4 Kix Cereal
170 cal

Lunch 12pm
2 Cups Chicken Salad
1 Cup Noodle/Veggie Soup
298 cal

Snacks 3:30
1 Baked Potato
1/2 tbsp Butter
185 Cal

Dinner 7pm
1 cup Steamfresh Vegetables
1 cup Chicken Breast
1 slice 100% Whole Wheat Bread
341 cal

Coming to a grand total of 1285 of my net 1390 calores. Today was a rest day but I still managed to dance about 20 miniutes today. So is this a good meal plan if not what should I adjust/add/subract? Also when on my exercise day I try to burn at least 250 calories but I have no idea what I should eat extra? Thanks for any advice you can give. I really appreciate it.

Also I cut out all soda and juice. Today I just had about 7 cups of water to drink

  • One thing I will say that helps a lot is to not eat the same exact things every day. You'll get bored with it very fast. I like to have at least 3-4 different variations of each meal so that I can mix it up a bit.

Also, I don't eat anything besides my 3 meals a day other than an occasional low-calorie treat in the early evening if I still haven't hit my calorie goal for the day. If I have only 3 meals I have found that I can eat closer to a "normal" meal...and I don't feel like it's such a skimpy amount. Does that make sense?

Also, I usually don't eat extra just b/c I burned calories exercising. My whole goal is to burn as many as possible compared to what I take in. And since I don't necessarily feel any more hungry just b/c I exercised, I don't eat any more on those days even if I am technically allowed to do so.

It's good that you don't feel hungry, you'd be more likely to binge eat! Your day looks good to me. On the days I exercise I try and have a an extra snack or sometimes a bigger meal. I'm trying to get lots of protein and fiber.

Some good snacks you could add in are~

non fat greek yogurt ( has double the protein of regular yogurt)
    light string cheese
    almonds
boca burger plain...soy protein "fake" burger

I will suggest that you change your menu details to also show the amount of carbohydrates and sodium in your diet. It seems that you are still eating too many "white" carbs (potato, cereal), and not enough fiber.
Stick to brown rice, wheat pasta, and have a sweet potato instead of a potato. Low gycemic carbs are better for us. But it seems that you are doing well otherwise but if you excercise more you may need to increase your calories. Other people have posted good ideas so you a have a cocktail of suggestions to guide you.
Good luck and keep up the good work, and don't worrry about feeling full, it is better than feeling hungry (LOL)
