Confused about net calories

Hi!
I've been really confused lately about the net calories that MFP tells me i have consumed, specially on days when i work out.

For example today: My daily goal is 2490 calories (i don´t want to lose weight, i just want to keep it and increase muscular mass) it says i have consumed 771 calories today but that i have burned 719 from workout so my net calories are 52!! So i have 2438 calories remaining!

What does this means?
Does it means i can eat all i want for the rest of the day until i get to my goal without gaining weight?
Even if i overpass my daily goal i still maintaining my weight?

I hope you understand what i mean beacuase it's a little hard to explain.

Thanks!

if your calorie goal is set to maintain your weight and your activity level is set correctly, 2500ish is how much you will burn without any exercise. any exercise you do is extra calories that you need to eat back in order to maintain your weight. i would still eat nutritious meals, just larger ones in order to try and meet your goal. it might help to plan your day a bit more in regards to your activity, but one day under maintenance isnt going to hurt you although i would try to hit at least 1800 calories

    good luck :flowerforyou:

Yes, means you need to eat until your net matches your maintenance number.......

Try some various online calculators (I like the iifym.com one where I am able to put daily minutes of activity levels per day[My days do not vary much, so this works for me] ) to calculate your TDEE with exercise included and don't log activity on here so you don't have to worry about your net and you just aim for that specific goal :)

If you are using the MFP calculator and you are entering an accurate calorie burn then yes, you should eat back all of those calories and it will allow you to maintain. The challenge comes in getting your calculations correct.

You were supposed to eat 2490 on the basis of your stats and activity level, to maintain weight.
You clocked 719 from a workout (really ??) which pushes up your daily expenditure to 2490 + 719 = 3209 which you should aim to eat

    You actually ate 771

    So your net consumption minus exercise is 771 - 719 = 52

There's 2490 - 52 = 2438 calories to eat to get to target for maintenance.

or looking at it another way 3209 you expended minus 771 you ate = 2438 to eat. QED.

Yeah that's the amount of calories that MFP says i burnt
