Sweeteners vs. sugar

What do you think about this substitution?
I noticed that many ppl during a diet regimen cut off the added sugar in beverages or cakes and substitute it with chemical sweeteners (Splenda and those aspartame/sorbitolo based).
Personally i prefer to reduce the sugar instead of substitute it completely with sweeteners, because i think that in the long run they could "poison" the body (ok i don't wanna be so drastic but i can't find a better translation of what i want to say  ).
And not to mention the weird aftertaste they give to the coffee

Heard of something called "Stevia" never tried it but supposedly a "safe" sweetener based from natural plant.
I avoid all "Light", "Diet", "0.0%" and sweeteners as much as poison

Honey and stevia = all you need. Stevia has no health dangers like it was said, no calories/carbs/bitter taste=is just amazing. Natural honey has natural sugar, so to be consumed in moderation, but is also benefitial for health.
  • First off, coffee is always the most satisfying black without anything extra added!

Second off, I've been doing the whole "diet" thing for more than ten years & am going to be straight up honest when I say that there shouldn't be any need to SUBSTITUTE anything if you're making smart choices. Yeah, that's cliche as it ever was but it is what it is for a reason.

Cutting out almost everything is just going to making you eventually exhausted psychically and emotionally. We don't need or want something like pop tarts for every meal - same goes with coke.

If you feel like drinking a regular coke, why not ask yourself "why?". Are you dehydrated? Have you let your blood sugar drop so low that all you want is a quick fix? These are just examples but usually come down to something similar.

TRACK what you eat. Have some kind of a PLAN. Know what you need (yes, you need to consume to burn.. starvation mode will just build the fat).
  • Also - it's a fact that consuming an artificial sweetener only makes you crave the actual thing. You could either avoid it all together or keep your body in check so it doesn't feel the need to crave something that you're intentionally missing out on.

These products are addictive as hell, I can't deny it. But it's not worth the side effects, cravings or cost.

You've been dieting for 10 years, and don't know, that our body does NOT need processed sugars? All the sugar you need you can get naturally, by eating fruits etc. But, up to ~30g of added sugar per day is ok, BUT not essential for bell being nor energy, etc.

I've greatly reduced my intake of both sugars and artificial sweeteners and find I have much more appetite control. Research on sugars (especially fructose) and artificial sweeteners suggest that they interfere with the brain's ability to recognize when one has eaten enough. Both can be appetite stimulants. I know when I drink a can of Diet Coke, I often feel a raging hunger that tries to drive me to the kitchen for serious off-diary grazing. If I want to keep my appetite in control, I avoid sugars and artificial sweeteners.

If it's a fact, I'd like to see it from a peer reviewed clinical study proving it. Have seen one's that CORRELATE it with some people, but nothing that shows that artificial sweeteners CAUSE cravings. Again, not a blog or an article from some natural site, but an actual study that concludes it.
