Absolutely do not feel bad about taking unscheduled breaks. I just finished recovery week, and still can't keep up with the video. When I started, I couldn't get through the warm-ups' first part (you repeat the segment of moves three times for the warmup) without stopping, and my HRM beeping at me. Now I can get through two, and hopefully by the end, all three without a break or loss in intensity. So taking breaks doesn't impede progress. That was my fear the first week, that I was taking too many. Good luck!

I completed Insanity in April. My two cents....

1 - Throw away your scale! Most likely it is going to move very little the first month or even go up. Do not get discouraged, this happens to the majority of people.

2 - DO NOT attempt to keep up with the pace in the videos. You are likely to hurt yourself or get discouraged because you can't "hang" with those people. "Those people" have already completed at least 1 round of Insanity and are conditioned for the exercises. Even they take breaks!

3 - Make sure you are eating enough. You are going to be hard pressed to find anyone who was able to do this for an extended period of time on 1200 calories. Many of us have tried and made ourselves sick with exhaustion.

4 - There's a lot of jumping, so pay close attention to form. Bad form = injury. Slower with good form = better chance for success.

5 - If you miss a day DO NOT try to make it up by doing back to back videos. You will kill yourself. Follow the calendar and make it up at the end. Also, say you miss Plyo and it's now time to make it up. If you did Plyo the day before I would suggest not doing the same video back to back days.

I personally lost 13 pounds. Honestly, it looked more like 30. I don't remember how many inches I lost but I went from wearing a size 18 pants to a size 12/14 depending on the brand. Not bad for 63 days!

    Don't give up.
    That's all i've got.
If you miss a day, don't try and make it up. Just keep going.
There is a lot of jumping and such so make sure you are using very good form AND landing softly. Keep up with it all at your pace but push yourself harder each time.

My boyfriend finished the entire two months only missing one day (he was sick). he lost 30 pounds. Now he's lifting and going for jogs a couple times a week.

I am 6'5 and work out in my basement with only about 10 inchs of additional clearance. I have used other beach body workouts and thought about insanity. I am going to have a problem with clearance with all of the jumping around I am reading about?

    Thanks

I'm on day 19 of insanity. The first day I was just amazed that I could do Insanity and not die. I can't do all the exercises the was they do but I modify it and do the best I can.

I just did a fit test recently and have improved a lot, most of the moves went up by at least half. I didn't realize how much better I was doing until the fit test.

I haven't lost any weight but had decided I needed to take a break from weight loss and try to build muscle.

If at 6'5" you only have a 2" vertical you should be ok. Anything more than that and you are likely to knock yourself out on a cross beam!

I did it for about 3 weeks and got discouraged because I couldn't keep up with the video. I would try and push myself and it would make it worse. There is LOTS of jumping so watch your form and take your time. if you have to do it in 65 days then so be it.

Ok thanks. I have to modify a lot of overhead moves but have been able to figure it all out.

I started it last summer and only managed 2 weeks, because I wasn't following the nutrition plan and felt awful.
I'm starting again now this June and its great. My tips:
Get your nutrition planned, you MUST eat enough calories to fuel your body!
Id recommend Investing in a HR monitor to track your heart rate in the workouts and also accurate burn for each workout, iv got a pink Polar FT4 with chest strap and its brilliant!
Make sure you have a post workout shake or refuel plan!
Lastly...don't give up, keep pushing through and do the workouts at your pace! Don't get disheartened if you can't keep up in the first week!

Iv added you as a friend on here so it's he great to keep each other motivated!
