Can anyone suggest a great smartphone?

I'm about to be finished with my contract with Verizon and I'm looking to possibly switch to another cell provider, any suggestions on which smartphone to purchase? I live in Ohio and the Verizon service stinks where I live. I am leaning towards Sprint.
Any suggestions? Oh, I don't want a phablet. I still want my cell to be able to fit in my pocket. LOL!

ditto, i hacked mine to wazoo... i can play games on it as well. Nintendo, n64, super nintendo, sega. I play them with a play station controller.

But the galaxy s4 is out(the next one) so get that one if you can.

If you think it's to big, then a nexus 4 is a very good choice... just as good, but.. has no case, so you can't take out the battery, and I believe it has no sims slot, but processor wise, and memorize wise... its very powerful.

I like the fact that you can take the battery out of the Nexus 4! Thanks for that info! That helps and is good to know! I am little concerned that you can't take the battery out of the Galaxy 3 or 4. Do they have many bugs?

I have a Samsung Galaxy I and I love it, but it's gotten a bit slow. The newer version are great tho! I'm definitely a samsung fan. Can drop them and they won't break.
HTC's are great too, but drop them and you will need to replace your screen.

    NO iphones.

This. I love my S3!!! It fits in my pocket even with the otterbox case.

ETA: You can remove the battery in the S3 also.

No phablets?! Whhhatttt?! My Samsung Galaxy Note (recently switched to Note II) have been the best phones EVER!!!! I looove them and I wouldn't trade my note for anything. Except maybe the GS4, which is pretty big too. If you want all the goodness of the Note, though, without quite that amount of size, the S3 or S4 are the ways to go. :)

PS: You can remove the battery on most Android devices. It's mainly Apple that gets all weird about the battery. I think the Nexus line might be the exception for Android.

What do you mean you can't take the battery out? I take mine out of my s3 sometimes.

I have had two different Androids and an iPhone. I won't be going back to Android. Hopefully there is a return plan on whatever you choose. It took a little while before that battery pulls on my Androids started. That was the most annoying.

https://ting.com/ You pay for what you use...only downside is you have to buy another phone. We had Verizon our bill went from 150plus to a sweet $56.00 per month for both my wife and I-have separate phones....Uses Samsung Galaxy.....and others....... You WILL NOT REGRET THE MOVE unless you really LOVE paying HIGH PRICES!!!!

It really is! If you download it, don't add any shops tho, it will slow down your phone a lot ;)

I am a so attached to my iPhone and own like 10 other apple devices so I am partial to them. I have had androids and the battery life always sucked, I found myself sitting next to an outlet often. I do have days where I need to charge my iPhone 3/4 of the day through but rarely. I just find my iPhone is easy for me to navigate and I can't live without it. I am not one to download tons of apps though so I couldn't agree or disagree with someone on the versatility of those functions

Oh I went the pre paid route. Verizon was too expensive, sprint and t mobile had terrible reception in my area and I got tired of their charging for everything. So I have straight talk and pay 46 a month with very few problems.

As an app developer this makes me sad.

Don't promote piracy, that is how small company apps die

I have an HTC Evo and I love it!

I have Sprint as my provider and I've never had a problem. My boyfriend has ATT and sometimes I'll have all five bars and he'll have none.

iPhone all the way. Apple makes the BEST stuff. Might not be as customizable or varied but it sure does work and its high quality.

Android to me was a train wreck at the end when iPhones would never break down. I don't jail break my phone either.

AT&T is a great provider but if Spring works well in your area they are a great choice being cheaper!
