I need to do something different, i have been doing J.M. workouts and need a change for a while. I am trying to decide between tae bo or zumba. Any opinions on which i will enjoy and get a good workout at the same time?

how can we possibly know what you will enjoy?
and are there any other options, like joining a gym or going for a run?0 -

Wow, thank you so much for that very helpful post0 -
I don't recommend Tae Bo. I've trained in kickboxing for 10 years and some of the moves Billy Blanks gets you doing from day 1 can hurt you if you're doing them incorrectly. Plus, the speed with which he does them adds to the likelihood.0

thank you so much for doing so much to help us help you. it was great when you said what your goals were, your current level of fitness, your likes and dislikes and how much of a challenge you were seeking. that made it easy for us to give you relevant suggestions instead of just pulling random crap out of the sky.
best of luck on your fitness journey0 -

Thank you. I did attempt one after i posted this and i have to say, i can see what u mean about doing them incorrectly lol i am a little too uncoordinated to do this and keep the right form. i will definately have to work my way up to him, so as not to hurt myself.0 -
have a go at doing both, I use a lot of vids off you tube, I do love zumba though more than tae bo. zumba is more light hearted than tae bo, if you love to dance then id say zumba.0

Actually, it is a valid point. Do you want to box or do you want to dance...key to fitness is finding something you enjoy and works for you.0 -
I've never tried tae Bo but I'm completely addicted to Zumba!0

I love Zumba! Fun dances and music. You cant beat it.0

I would pick Tae bo instead of Zumba because I think Tae bo/kickboxing burns more calories. I alternate my workout routine so I dont get bored easily. Ballet workout is good too.0

I've done both, and highly prefer Zumba over Tae Bo. Zumba is so much fun that you forget that you're exercising!0

I'm not saying he doesn't have a good pointIt's not what he said, but the way it was said.
Anyway, to answer your question, I like both...actually there isn't much that I don't enjoy as far as exercise as long as it is high intensity. I love to push myself.0 -

This is a good idea, i hate when i start to burn out on a routine0 -
Tae bo comes highly recommended! You'll feel like a badass!0

I loved Tae Bo back in the day. I only ever did Tae Bo Gold though as the other workouts were just too demanding. But Tae Bo Gold was wonderful (it's on Youtube for free)
I like Zumba more nowadays, less chance of getting bored and it's just so much fun!
I also REALLY enjoy the Leslie Sansone walking workouts, they are also free on Youtube0 -

So do both on alternating daysNo one said you had to just do one

Something awesome or something stupid looking.. wait, that's not fair. I shouldn't hate on Zumba.. oh wait.
Nah, Zumba is pretty stupid.0 -
Zumba is AWESOME! I'm an instructor and it is so great to just feel the music and dance. As for the workout you are getting, Zumba actually burns more calories than any other fitness program. Based on someone who weighs 150lbs, you can burn up to 1000-1200 calories in an one hour class. And the best part is, is that you don't even know you are working out! Dancing burns calories AND creates muscle tone. You are doing squats, lunges and every other "hated" training without realizing it. Also, there are specialty classes and if you need a bit more of a "kick" there is Zumba Toning which allows for weights. There is Zumba Sentao which is done with chairs (Killer workout!), Aqua Zumba which adds the resistance of the water...and many more.
If you want to kick some butt, try cardio kickboxing. That's a fabulous workout as well! Try it all!0 -
I have been doing Tae Bo for 14 years. It is neither boring or easy. Tae Bo makes you drench and burn calories. Zumba is lots of dancing. If you want to see results, you gotta work hard and push your limits. Zumba does not give you that option. If you want to pay to dance, go to the club! Hard work pays off! Practically anyone can be a Zumba instructor. You certify in one day. Hence why there are so many. Tae Bo is a challenge, not even cardio kickboxing gives you that. Sorry to say, but any Zumba member can challenge any of our Tae Bo family to work out. They wouldn't last 10 min doing what we do. Please do a real work out, not Zumba!0

Neither they both suck. Put free weight training on your agenda and start learning how to actually get stronger and more functional so you can strengthen joints and ligaments and deal with your muscular imbalances and do things like squat down to get to things again. Do twice as much work in half the time and cut back on needing to workout period! (unless you prefer that) Screw the ill fated dogma of worrying about how many calories one can mindlessly burn which may not be on your metabolic best interest. And no you won't get bulky unless you eat to get bulky. True you'd need luck with finding a knowledgeable mentor/teacher/trainer/coach... Kudo's for bringing up taebo an oldy but goodie for swindling people out of money and time.
But nah not to be so hard on the two...I mean people mean well with this stuff....
Seriously though, thinking about it...if I had to choose between one of the two...I mean really really HAD to choose like you held a gun to my head...I would probably choose free weight training.
