Baby Shower

After taking a 6 month break for personal reasons, I'm back on track. I've lost 7.5lbs and I'm super excited! I have a Baby Shower that I am supposed to go to today and yes, there will be LOTS of food there! Would it be horrible for me to go, fake a cough, drop my gift off, and leave? I just don't think I have the inner strength to deal with cake yet.....

PS - Please don't make this about calories in vs. calories out because it's not. It's a self-control issue.

How about going to the baby shower and enjoying the company, while celebrating with friends and trying not to focus on the food?

Not focusing on food? Did I mention there will be cake?

Yes, you did mention there will be cake. My suggestion was to try and if you think it is going to be that much of a struggle, then do not join in on the celebration. The day is supposed to be about the expectant mother and the birth of a child, it is your choice if you want to miss out because there will be food. There will always be these types of events and at some point you will have to deal with it, but if you are not ready.....then you are not ready....choice is yours...

Bring a ziploc filled with cut veggies and munch on those throughout the day.

OK I am with you ..its hard for me to pass up ANYTHING with frosting.. but I have another idea. Eat before you go, have a healthy meal and you will be less tempted by the snacks. as far as cake goes? You are celebrating a lovely thing, and you are on track every other day and doing well. if it were ME ( and I am a cake fanatic) I would have a small piece.. and enjoying being with friends.
