Dr. prescribed me pseudoephedrine 120 mg last week for congestion, but it seemed to have a marked effect in suppressing my appetite while maintaining a good energy level. Since I began one week ago, I've lost 4 lbs just from more controlled eating and maintaining my exercise routine (200 mins cardio, 150 mins weight training per week). Granted, I'm not sure how long this effect will last but it seems to be a psychological boost as well. Anone else experience this effect with sudafed or generic pseudoephedrine?

    I take it when I have a cold, but I hate taking it for more than a day or two because I find that it gives me weird dreams and fitful sleep. :tongue:

    Not sure about it suppressing my appetite since I'm usually ill when taking it, so appetite might be off anyway. My hubby takes it a lot for sinus issues, but haven't noticed any suppressed appetite on him.

    Thanks. It's too soon to tell for sure if it's water weight or not either, so I may update in a few weeks.

    Pseudoephedrine is a stimulant(in its own way),anyways stimulants usually do suppress appetite. THis includes stimulants like concerta, adderall, dexedrine ritalin, and so on

    Yeah, there's a reason they limit the amount of pseudoephedrine you can buy: because it can be used to make meth. It's a pretty powerful stimulant.

    To me, taking sudafed to help you lose weight is no better than taking any other diet pill, and I'd imagine the ultimate results will be pretty similar: it's tough on your body to take it long term, and when you stop it you'll probably gain the weight back.

    That stuff makes me high as a kite, I have to take the children's dose. I'd lose weight on it too if I took it long enough cause it makes me race around like Speedy Gonzales...it is a stimulant, and should be used as directed, as a decongestant, not a diet aide.

    I have been using Primatene tablets as part of an EC stack for some time now.

    25mg Ephedrine and 400mg Caffeine in the morning and another dose in the late afternoon. I track my weight and measurements week to week and if I take a week off the EC stack I notice it in the results. Its nothing huge but it does work. Some people take a dose 3x a day but my body freaks out when I try.

    Ephedrine is more commonly known as "Speed".

    Body builders use it for cutting fat in what's known as an "ECA stack" to be most effective, i.e ephedrine caffeine and aspirin. It is a prescription drug but can easily be bought illegally online
