Gotta catch 'em all!

Okay, this is starting to grind my gears. When I send a friend request, it is because I feel that I have something in common with the person. The may be due to age, location or goals. This way, I feel that we can support each other in reaching our goals. Other people seem to think that this is a game of Pokemon where the object is to get as many friends as possible. Am I missing the point here?

Maybe that works for them. I keep my FL fairly small, because that is best for me.0

No, I'm with you on choice and keep my list around 50ish becuase I have no idea how on earth they would track hundreds0 -
No, you're not missing the point. Some people are treating MFP like Facebook, and try to gather as many friends as they can. Why that is I cannot say without slagging off everybody who has a huge friends list.
It is not necessary to have a large friends list, it is important to have a GOOD friends list, with people who will support you.0 -
Thanks, I thought it was about quality over quantity. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.0

I'm always keeping my FL under 30. Right now I'm at 24, it helps me keep focused on supporting them too. I am not adverse to adding more, but I only keep those that are helpful or fun. Good luck!0

Meh... It's not that serious to me. Just because a person has a lot of friends doesn't mean they aren't supportive of them.0

Same here. I send requests to people that seem to either have similar goals, age, sense of humor or lifestyle. And I like to check in with my MFP friends everyday, so my list is small or I'd never be able to do that.0

i think you can support anyone wether they have the same goals, are the same age\weight or whatever,
i have only sent out a few requests (none for a while) but my list is growing, and i would not limit it for any reason and its not a popularity thing otherwise i would send out hundreds a day,
people come here looking for support and motivation, and if i have no connection with the person other than to praise their efforts with a well done on their feeds and it helps them, i am more than happy to do so, and the more people that want that is fine by me,
also to be honest, why something like that would annoy you i am not sure?
just leave them too it and get what you want from the site, which i assume its what it was created for, i bet if you looked into everything thats said or done by members on here you would have dozens of things that would annoy you, but thats not going to do anything but make your experience of the site a worse one,0
