I just want to know how many of you are looking at your water intake and losing weight just by drinking more water. I have heard that if you drink to much you just gain weight but that you need it to lose weight. so my questions are:
1. how much water do you drink(cups/oz/gallons?)
2. did you lose weight because of this change?
3. & how long did it take before you realized that this was the reason why you were losing weight(weeks/months)?
thanks for all replies in advance

I started out drinking sodas ect then with my heart problems I started drinking sodas w/o caffine and my heart problems were not geting any better so I cut out all Choc and Sodas and only drink water now even with my iffy diet ( when I was not eating healthy ) I actually stoped gaining weight and just sat at the same weight or even lost some. I then cut back on what I was eating still eating some of the same foods just less and drinking alot of water and ended up loosing all the weight I had gained with 2 kids though I was pretty active ( mostly keeping myself busy with stuff like the kids going out , swimming , meeting up with friends ect to keep myself from geting bored ). It all comes down to this since iv started drinking only water my heart problems have been less and as far as gaining weight drinking water I guess you can gain water weight but thats if ur not active anything that can make u sweat gets rid of that. Iv gone like 2 weeks w/o doing any exercise and drink tons of water for those 2 weeks notice I will loose more then than the times i work out everyday.Im currently in a jam though now as I have heart problems on top of knee caps which move out of place any given time and I will fall ( I think its from running track through middle and high school ) so im pretty inactive. I drink plenty of water and dont gain any weight im pretty much stuck at same weight or loose about a 2 lbs a month just eating healthyish,0

it's probably a week or more since I drank water on its own as opposed to as a very large part of a beverage.
I haven't really seen anything credible that proves drinking water is essential to weight loss. The definition of dehydration is weight loss due to inadequate fluids, for example.0 -
Did I loose weight drinking only water no but I wasnt gaining anymore. Some days I drink around 5 bottles of 500ml of water other days I can drink like 8 or more just depends. It didnt take me long to realize that it was keeping me from gaining weight as it was cuting out a ton of sugar. Also when I started drinking alot of water my heart ( tachy with etopic beats ) was geting alot less frequent.0

It's not really that you gain or lose weight based on water intake. If you're not properly hydrated you will retain water and the scale will reflect that. But it's not fat loss or gain.0

You need water to live! You don't gain or lose fat from water alone. You should be focused on fat loss, not whether you gain one or two pounds of water weight. Fat loss (the weight loss you should be focused on) is dependent on a caloric deficit. Water has no calories, so do you actually think you are gaining fat pounds from drinking too much water? I focus on getting at least a gallon a day. There shouldn't be a choice between living or gaining an extra pound of water weight!0
