Small Changes... BIG diffrence

Options
Anyone have any small changes in there diet that made a big difference? Things like switching from regular butter to light I can believe its not butter... or from regular peanut butter to natural. Has the change helped you lose weight?

Nope staying within my calorie goal as helped me lose weight. The best part about it, I didn't have to sub out anything I love :)

I agree. Stay within your calorie goals. I believe in eating what I call "real" foods. Natural peanutbutter, regular butter, whole grains. I'm not planning on giving up what I love, just exercising portion control.

To hit my cal goal I switch out whole milk with skim, and do scrambled eggs with one whole egg and one egg white. I also started doubling my normal fruit/veggie portion for meals which has helped keep me under. These simple changes help keep me from going over.

I felt better/ate better when I ate normal food instead of "diet" food.
    :)

2% greek yogurt instead of 0% greek yogurt
whole eggs instead of egg whites/egg beaters.
    etc.

I switched from guestimating everything to getting a food scale and actually weighing and measuring. This alone gives you immense control over yourself.

I quit drinking Diet Coke...a HUGE deal for me. I don't drink any soda or artifically flavored/sweetened drinks at all. It has definitely increased my water intake! LOL

I totally agree with this one! I love my scale and use it (obsessively), and it has made a huge difference. I drink unsweetened almond milk, instead of the usual skim milk which saves calories, use plain yogurt instead of mayo for things like tuna or egg salads. Mostly tho, I've learned to cut back on portion sizes--1/2 tablespoon of PB on toast is just as satisfying to me as 2 tablespoons for instance, and just appreciate the taste of food more rather than gobble it down mindlessly.

low fat cottage cheese vs. regular
almond milk but fat free milk if there are no option
    rice cakes rather then crackers
    quinoa rather then rice
low fat/ sugar yogurt rather then regular --> non-fat greek yogurt
light dressing or no dressing on salads
    light mayo

measuring food - it doesnt take much to put cereal in a container rather then pouring into the bowl and "eye balling it"
