I was doing so well but then.. I was blindsided by some hurt relating to matters of the heart.. aka. love life.
So here's a question friends... how do you maintain control over your diet and exercise when matters in your life.. your heart.. your mind seem to be racing out of control?

Real life has a habit of biting you in the *kitten* sometimes! Try focussing on the things you CAN control and break them down. E.g. how hard you work at the gym, what you have for lunch one day, doing an extra 20minute walk. That way, when the giant bowl of ice cream needs to be eaten, you have some healthier habits in the bank.
Plus non-stop ways of dealing with things can help. E.g. silly film, massage, relaxing bath, meeting with friends, kick-boxing session...
Hope it all gets better soon.

I guess don't see what the two things have to do with each other...are you saying that when you're stressing over your love life, you can't exercise and watch your diet?0

I told myself I'd have to do this eating plan for a year and nothing could get in the way, and things WOULD pop up to get in the way. I gave myself a start and end date that go by the calendar, not my readiness, timing, or life circumstances. I told myself this is the time I have alloted myself, and anything else that comes up has to be handled within the parameters of my eating and exercise plan still existing.
Things have come up. I carry on.0 -
How do you do it? Like everything else: by deciding to and making it happen.
There are no emotions involved in going to work. You go because you have to. None involved in brushing your teeth or getting the mail. You just do it.
Take your health out of the emotional side of your brain and plunk it squarely into the practical side and you'll be just fine.0 -

Yes, I agree 100% with 1ConcreteGirl. You make a decision and follow through.0 -

I like your approach but when such things happen the last thing you want to do (at least I) is anything but wallow in your worries/emotional state... not concentrate on work etc.
But thanks for all your answers guys. I guess i should just have a pint of icecream and call it a day. Tomorrow is a new one to start afresh and find strength and positivity in the negative0 -
I ate a pint of ben and jerrys this afternoon.... then I got off my butt and moved... I still need to burn some more before bed, but I sometimes just splurge. You gotta sweat, it's good for your body but great for your brain and your mood!!0

Psychological reasons for eating are common, trying to "forget" or numb the feeling.
My favorite one-liner in cases like this is, "If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution."
So, keep busy!0 -
