Lower back pain using elliptical trainer?

Hello everyone,
I am wondering has anyone else had quite painful lower back pain after using the elliptical religiously. All week my lower back and front of legs and back of been in terrible pain, after having my 1st rest day yesterday(after 8 days exercise for 30 minutes pushing myself) my legs feel fine. However, my lower back is still very sore i have been taking aspirin and spraying deep heat on my back.

I had that happen to me once, but just my back, not legs. I realized it was how i was standing on it - I was slightly hunched forward. I adjusted my feet further back & made sure i was standing up straight. I haven't had an issue with my back since. Try to google the correct way to stand on an elliptical?0

I was going to say the same thing- check your posture. Even if you are standing up straight, make sure your pelvis is bent upwards slightly (tailbone towards the floor, belly button back towards the spine) and you've got good spinal alignment. I have a tendency to stick my butt out creating a weird curve in my spine that can make my back a little sore from the elliptical.0

Make sure to stretch your hamstrings after your workout. Tight hamstrings pull your pelvis out of alignment putting stress on your lower back . That's according to my physical therapist. I found out the hard way by herniating my L5-S1 disc in my low back0

as others have said, check that your form is ok.
also recommend doing a youtube search for yoga for lower back pain, there is some good stuff.0 -
When my chiropracter asked what I do for exercise and I told him elliptical he told me to cut it out entirely and stick to walking/jogging.0

Thank you everyone for your advice, I am laying off the elliptical for the week and going to complete exercise DVD's and use my exercise back. I will look at the links posted to check my form after I've had the week off before I go back on again:)0
