Ate a Lot

I ate so much these past three days, or at least it feels like it
I exercised and ate generally healthy stuff (besides today when I had salami and bread and cheese!!!)
other than that it was rather healthy foods but I still feel like a glutton.
Need to get back on track or else I will really regret it.
I don't want to give myself passes but I definitely feel like i did these past few days.
I rationalize it based on the amount of calories i have left over at the end of the day but I skkyrocket in the amount of sodium and sometimes sugar that I ingest....

anyone else ever just feel disappointed when they eat over their goal?

No I don't fret about this stuff since My TDEE is 2400 or something so in order to gain a pound overnight I would have to eat about 5900 calories and that's assuming I was sedentary the entire day. So I mean big deal if I eat 2600 or 3000 calories its going to be okay. I will just get back on track tomorrow and do better.

Why, as an adult male, would you have a 1360 calorie limit? Are you 4' 2"? And is this gross or net?

I've been mostly off track these past three weeks while visiting home.

It might help if you are tracking. Then you can have an objective look at what you are taking in. Track your exercise as well so you get an idea of what you are burning. It's very likely not as bad as you think it is.

Here's a great quote that lifts me back up when I'm feeling down about a stumble: "Don't let yesterdays habits be tomorrows handcuffs." So, you messed up. We all do. Don't let it spiral you out of control. Learn from it, don't beat yourself up, do dust yourself off...and move on. :) Good luck!

If you seriously think a salami and cheese sandwich is "bad" food, then I would hate to be you on any given Sunday in my house where I have pizza, wings, and beer..................

Please stop demonizing food and make believing that some of it is "bad" when it's just food.

And no, I never feel disappointed in myself for this. Restricting food from myself because it's "bad" would disappoint myself.
  • Yeah I agree about the restrictions. I haven't indulged since I got back. Its just hard because I have a guilty conscience. I think demonizing is a rather strong word...not really what I was intending, but I hear you. I'm not trying to make food look back just trying to find a more positive outlook!

Normally people start out with the intent of cutting things back, and that intent grow into a fear of eating those foods. When I first started, I wanted to cut out some of the cheese that I was eating. It got to the point where I wouldn't eat anything with too much cheese because even if it was just 250 calories, I was convinced that *cheese*... not the calories from it... was going to make me huge.

That's why I say demonizing. Some people really do demonize foods, and others learn to be that way over time. It's best not to think of foods as "good" or "bad" unless you are talking about the taste. Just brush yourself off if you ate too many calories, don't even bother worrying about *what* you ate, and resolve yourself to eat the amount of calories that you should be eating from now on.
