Back when I first starting exercising/working to get fit about 3 years ago, i wasn't sure if I would stick it out, if I would succeed. I heard about HRMs and how they calculate calories burn etc. I bought this cheap watch HRM from Ebay, I called it my China HRM. It was very cheap, $25. I used it up till today, and I've lost 70+ lbs with it. I've always doubted its accuracy, but I continued to use it as I was loosing weight so it must be half ok right?
Last week, I decided to step higher and buy a Polar FT4, and received it today. WOW what a difference! I wore it today along with the China HRM to compare as I went on my day 3 of week 2 Learn to Run program. Here are the stats:
Total workout time: 50 mins
China HRM: 147 Cals
MFP: 478 Cals
Polar FT4: 271 Cals
What a difference in numbers! I was amazed how comfortable the chest strap was, and the watch, as the China watch was extremely bulky and uncomfy. Love it!

this is the HRM i'm looking into buying. i have heard so many good things about it but then also bad things about how it will sometimes lose its connection easily during a workout and wipe out all the data you had going. amazon has it for like $60 so i might just bite the bullet. i want a more accurate calorie count on my work outs as well0

I've had a polar HRM with chest strap for about 5 years now and love it. Touch wood the battery has never gone out on the strap but I've replaced the watch battery about 4 times now. Best investment I ever made!0
