I can't find the cross trainer on the list of exercises what would you compare it to to get an idea of calories burned ? Also does using a power plate burn any calories ?

Thanks for that, from the uk so had never heard of that one you guys mentioned, let alone spell it. Lol
  • Do you mean vibration machines? The one I use says I burn 260 calories @ 16.5 hertz for 10 min.
  • i couldnt find power plate so i logged it as a new one and monitered my calories burnt on my heart rate monitor though this wont be accurate as the hrm cannot detect muscle contraction which is the whole purpose of the power plate!

Confused now as to what I do about power plate. Should I just count it as bait of toning that burns no calories ?
  • i honestly dont know as it is meant to be as effective as an hour in the gym but it doesnt give you a big cadrio workout

during my sessions my heart rate tends to be between 125 and 135 depeneding on what move/position i am in

the monitor basically averages out to burning around 7 calories per minute - i have my vibrations on the highest setting and move slightly when in position (i.e the deep squat, i get in the squat then every few seconds ease up and re position myself)

so i base mine on 7 cals per minute - could be more, could be less, however i wouldnt quite buy the 'you can burn 350 calories every 10 minutes' as even high intensity trainign does not burn this amount!

Tatey2009 - so do you count it as 7 cals burned therefore a 10 min session is 70 cals ?
