Kj or kcals

Have had a couple of items recently (including a tin of Heinz soup) where only kj was given and no calories. Not a growing trend I hope, I have rough ideas of how many cals items have and I can have but no real idea on kj - there seems to be a multiplier of about 4 x calories to get kj. It is another change that has passed me by ??
