Hi,

Does tea and coffee (hot and iced) count as water in the 8-glasses a day suggestion?

Thanks.

    Or Lipton Diet Green Tea?

    I think Weight Watchers says it counts if it's opaque enough to see through...

    as long as it is not full of sugar or sugar substitutes, i would say it pretty much counts, HOWEVER it must be kept in mind that tea and coffee is a known diuretic, and the def: of diuretic is;
    a drug that increases the flow of urine

    which is the opposite of the reason you are drinking the water, to hydrate yourself.

    I am curious to see others response to this, as i dont get enough water, and i drink tea all the time!

    I would stick with water being water. I noticed I cut out all diet soda ( addicted to caff) And it made me feel way better and helped me loss bloat! Good luck keep pushing water!!

    I wouldnt count coffee or tea, they are caffeinated beverages, NOT water. You could however count the occasional juice or crystal light as water if need be. It's probably best to stick with plain water. You can have other things as often as you like (as long as it fits into your calories) but you should try and drink as close to 8 cups of plain water as you can daily.

    I say no for the same reason mentioned earlier--they're diuretics. In fact, I drink extra water to counter the effect of the coffee and tea I drink!

    If you have a hard time drinking water you can get flavored waters but make sure you read the labels. there are some that say naturally sweetened but when you read the label it has sucrolose in it (fake sweetener- GROSS!) OtoGo is a good one for flavor but no fake sweetener.

    90% of my daily water is in the form of decaf tea usually, it doesn't seem to be hurting my weight loss any! :)
