I'm fast walking 3 times a week.

I attempted Aikido last year and it sucks being the fattest one there, plus it was hard keeping up.

Any advice?

What do you like? Aikido is fun, but big guys + falling a lot = teh suck.

    Boxing is good.
Jujitsu might be good for you and bad for your opponents.

Depends. What do you like to do? I like to punch people, so I do boxing, but I'm coming to realize that I prefer to hold people down and then punch them. So after I get a good base I'll move to MMA.

You should check out Tai Chi. It helps train muscles in a much more gentle fashion than Aikido, Kung Fu, Jujitsu, etc will do. the other benefit is once you get to a smaller size and want to move into another of the arts you will already have somewhat of a base knowledge.

I like the way you promote this art...lol

  • I do Tae Kwon do. It is an independent sport, you can learn at your own pace. Most of the time is not on the floor. Lots of great stretching. You get out of it what you put into it.
My recommendation is that you find a class that is in a local recreation center. The instructors there have regular jobs and are not in it to make money, just do it because they love it. Otherwise you may get into a class that you have to pay for insurance and many extras.
Keep in mind you will have to get a uniform eventually and there will be quarterly testing, plus the cost of the classes.
I always allow my students to use their street clothes until I know that they are here to stay.
    congrats on your weight loss!

Heh, bjj man. I would hate to have to try to control or fight with someone who is 6'+ and 400#, and somehow has top mount. Technique is big, but it would take a lot of technique if you had some good knowledge of how to work your body to keep leverage.

Another thought too, krav maga. it's no nonsense, no bull. No flowery stuff, just getting down to business, and delivering the business.
