Meet Joe, an 82 year old power lifter who can outsquat, out-deadlift and out-bench my 43 year old *kitten*. He is my new hero and is a perfect example of why I lift weights and why I will ALWAYS lift weights.

That's pretty awesome. Well, totally awesome. And for the lifting will make you big crowd. Check it out. Strong, healthy, and not huge.0

I agree. I'm much bigger than him and can't lift nearly that much weight right. Which confirms that I have some work to do in the body composition area0

Very impressive! Personally i think every male over the age of 40 should lift weights, if for no other reason to mitigate age related loss of lean muscle mass
Another impressive Canadian octogenarian is Ed Whitlock, also 82; he ran a 3:30 marathon last year in Toronto.0 -
I agree Brian. Another benefit is to maintain testosterone production, which can drop as muscle mass drops.0

but, but, crossfit will make me huge.
I think a bunch of posters need to see this.0 -
Well, I´m not a dude, but I think he´s awesome too. That´s amazing. I´ll be 40 in a month and a half and just started lifting. People like this tells me to keep going, that I´m doing the right thing. Thank you for sharing!0

Good. Honestly, I don't read your posts, so you weren't in mind.
I'm not quite sure anyone who can bust out a pistol squat really needs a lecture anyway on the value of strength. I can squat and deadlift, but I can't do one of those.0 -
I have a crush on Joe0

FWIW, I bust out some DB rows tonight after my chin-ups. What a blast.
I got it now - it's about balance and this guy is a credit to lifting.
(all best with your Crossfit ;-) )0 -
Awesome! Thank you for the video!0

Just read an article the other day about a guy that is 91 and still pressing 147lbs. He only started lifting in his 60's after he retired... Awesome stuff.0

That is pretty damn cool. Strong old dude.0

Omg that is epic! Such an inspiration! Hm.. I wonder how I am going to implement some lifting in the nursing home I work in lol.0

WOW. That's awesome!
I should show that to my parents who aren't aging so gracefully.....
But seriously, tons of respect0 -
Oh WOW!!
363 pound squats...
220 pounds bench press...
424 pounds dead lift....
I am TOTALLY impressed!!
And kinda shocked, too!!0
