if just using weight machines? I am doing that about 3 times a week to build my upper body, well, more tone then anything. I am doing 5 different "arm" machines and 3 sets of 10. I do it in 30 minutes. I swim for cardio so's to keep the weight off my knee thats messed up. hugs all and have a great weekend!! Denise:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou:

Under the Cardio exercise section enter "Strength Training" to get an estimate of calories burned.

there would be no way to know unless you use a HRM, different people, body types, efforts etc impossible for anyone to just say yes sounds about 200 cals. thats why the cals on teh site are soo off

I would guess around 325 cals at moderate heartrate.

HRM's are not meant for strength training so even using one during that type of exercising may be off by more, or jsut as much as MFP's calculation.

You don't burn anywhere near 11 cals/min doing strength training. I'm guessing closer to 150
  • 150 is a much closer aspect unless you are keeping your heart rate up the whole time. Alot of it depends on how quickly you are moving between sets and exercises.
  • I would think at least 100 on the weights... pushing hard at the end. 8-12 reps
Swimming? don't know.. depends how much effort you put into it. if your doing frogs one way & back 5-10 times your breathing hard.. well if i did that, i would be breathing hard.
but if your just chillin in the pool (well you know how many calories that would burn)

total if you did weights 30 min and pool workout 30 min... i would think 200 - 250 total
