Mangoes and sugar?

I was wondering what people's opinion was for sugar coming from fruits? I've noticed that I am well beyond my sugar daily goal every day and had a look as to where I was going wrong. It turns out fruit is the culprit.

I love mangoes have at least a few per week. Sometimes I'll have a mango or 2 for lunch. They are packed with nutrients and vitamin C. However, looking at the nutrition, a mango has 31 grams of sugar. My daily goal is only 24. That means I only need to eat 1 mango to be over my sugar limit. Other foods I love and had presumed healthy was balsamic vinegar, which is also high in sugar (I assume because it's made from grapes).

Is there something wrong here, or do I really need to stop eating mangoes and limit and monitor the fruit and fruit-based foods that I eat? Will this inhibit my weight loss? I read somewhere that mangoes and bananas are both bad for weight loss. Of course my 2 favorite fruits!

What do you all think?

Unless you have a medical problem the sugar limits are pretty pointless. Cut down on processed sugar for obvious reasons but don't worry about sugar in fruit I eat at least one banana a day my weight loss is fine. As long as the fruit is within your calorie goals it won't effect your weight loss

Is the fruit stopping you from losing weight? It's pretty calorie dense, just eat in moderation. It's great for fiber but tons of sugar

I'm also in 2 minds about this. My PT told me that fruits such as bananas inhibit weight loss due to the sugar content and should only be consumed before training. However, other professionals argue that fruits are so nutrient dense and that the sugar comes from natural sources and is unrefined therefore fine to consume. According to others, it doesn't matter if the sugar is natural or not! CONFUSED.

I generally eat more berries than any other fruit because they tend to be lower in sugar and stick to bananas pre workout but only because this is what I have been told I should do by somebody that I pay for advice! Open to other ideas

I was having mango and banana smoothies for breakfast but the sugar content scared me. I think it contributed to my failure to lose weight. So now I limit the mangoes and bananas and opt for less sugary fruits like watermelon. Here is a link to a post I put up about that and the responses I got.

I am also so confused! So many conflicting stories!

But based on the info above and the other thread, I might try to limit my fruit a bit. Particularly the mangoes and bananas which I am so fond of. I'll try to eat them more in moderation. Sad sad times.
